I Just Spoke To On Star Today And They Told Me As Of Dec 31 2007, 2005 And Below Cts-v's Equipped With On Star Will No Longer Be Functional Since They Are Equipped With An Analog System, 2006 And Up Have Been Upgraded To The Digital System. They Were Happy To Tell Me That The Upgrade Can Be Happily Purchased For $319.00!!!!! This Is Ridiculous!! This Sounds Like This Should Be A Factory Recall, Its Not Our Fault They Made The Mistake Of Not Switching Over To The Digital System Especially Me Being The Owner Of A 2005 Cts-v, 2006 Was The First Digital Year. Has Anyone Else Heard Or Looked Into This?? It Just Doesnt Sound Right To Me That The Owner Would Have To Pay For This When We Already Have With The Purchase Of The Car, Please Let Me Know Any News As I Will Look Into This Myself As Well

This is something that will be done for free at the dealer.

Who cares.

Mine stopped working 2 days ago (the first free year is done) and I forgot until I saw this thread.

I am more the "glass half full", It's not going to cost another $319 to get on-star working - it's another $319 toward mods!

Never heard of this for my '05. I have, however, heard of this for my wife's '04 Rainier and, coincidentally, I had it upgraded to digital today at the Buick dealer.

BTW, before Urby tells you, why don't you turn off the caps ... it's really annoying.

Pick the OnStar subscription of you choice ($199 for Safe & Sound, $399 for Directions & Connections), prepay for One Year of service and your Cadillac Dealer will upgrade you to Digital for a $15 service charge (as Florian pointed out). Not only will you enjoy much clearer calls to OnStar, but you also get better coverage on the digital network AND the ability to speak the entire number when placing personal calls (instead of one at a time).

If you were planning on keeping the service already (which your first post indicates), all this runs you is $15.

Hm maybe that is the ONE good thing my dealer did for me then...because it was free!

well good to hear the lady told me about the prepaid one year and the $15 but she also said I have a $100 activation fee since I am the second owner...
