View Full Version : Having problems with Roy Foss in Toronto andrew-g 10-25-07, 10:26 AM I have a 2005 CTS-V that has been in for service at Roy Foss for the same problems three times. I'm sick of the run around and I want to take it to a dealer that fixes the problem the FIRST time! What dealers in the GTA have you had luck with getting there CTS-V's fixed right the first time.
My car has the rear diff whine and they have done everything but replace the diff, it also has the motor mount problem that they are finally replacing today but this is the real kick in the balls:
I get a call this morning about 1.5 hour after I take the car in and the service rep says:
"because you have an aftermarket exhaust we are going to have to charge you $115.00 to take it off"
I say "well if you would have had to take off the stock exhaust to replace the motor mounts, why would charge me to take off the Magnaflow exhaust if its part of the process to replace the motor mounts??
" Sorry its our policy"
So by this point if I want the motor mounts replaced today then I have no choice. I tell him I'm not happy about it and I think its just a cash grab but I have chice so go ahead"
This is the sort of crap that just pisses me off and I will never buy or service a car at Roy Foss ever again.
Has anybody had any luck with Addison? Hey Andrew,
Roy Foss absolutely sucks balls. They tried to rip me a couple years ago. Ended up getting a phone call from them telling me to never come back.
I usually deal with Highland GM in Aurora. www.highlandgm.com They are usually great to me, but last time they didn't want to replace my motor mounts.
If you are willing to travel, HMP in Hamilton is EXCELLENT. Joe Smiley over there will help you out. They work on my CTS-V and another OntarioCTS member's V there, so they know what is going on.

It is truly a shame that we have to travel 80~kms for a good dealer. These guys replaced my motor mounts without any questions. They kept my car indoors at all times to avoid the rain, and they put less than 2km on my car.
If you call HMP, ask for Joe Smiley and tell'em Jon with the CTS-V told ya to give them a call. :)
By the way, I have a B&B exhaust on my car and they never cared. Told me they loved the sound. andrew-g 10-25-07, 11:08 AM Thanks Jon for the reply, it makes me wish I told them to stick it and I will be back to pick up my car. Have you had your diff replaced by them? Jon....
Don't be shy......say what's REALLY on your mind....Roy Foss absolutely sucks balls
LOL
I found a GREAT dealership in Scottsdale.....Maybe too far to drive....But it's 30 Celius today and clear.... Thanks Jon for the reply, it makes me wish I told them to stick it and I will be back to pick up my car. Have you had your diff replaced by them?
Haven't EVER taken my car to Roy Foss.
I tried to get Highland to replace my diff, but the shop foreman took me out for a ride in another CTS-V they had in the showroom. It whined as well, but even worse than my car. Mine doesn't whine too bad, not enough to bother me. I can't even hear it with my B&B. They did basically tell me there's no chance of putting a '06 diff in there.
I haven't asked HMP that. To be honest, my whine/howl isn't that bad. I heard '06 diffs have leaking issues. If my diff gets louder I'll ask HMP (or you can try them). If they don't replace it I'll drive to Virginia and have Lindsay Cadillac do it. Jon....

LOL. Hey, that's what happens when you try to screw a customer over. It took a month of writing to GM Canada and the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry (they license dealers) to get our $$ back. It wasn't even a lot of $$, but you just don't treat customers that way.
I worked autoshow in 2006 for GM. Told any potential customers of my experience. I wonder how much potential business they lost. By the way Andrew.
Highland isn't bad. When I complained about the motor mount issue, the shop foreman told me he called GM and they told him it was a flywheel issue, not the motor mounts.
He took me into the parts dept. and showed me what a dual mass flywheel looks like and explained why it would make some noise when I turned off the car.
Replacing the motor mounts at HMP made it better, but there is still some noise. The guys at HMP had worked on another V before and knew about the motor mount issue.
Highland's done a lot of great things for me. They've refinished my wheels and powdercoated them since the previous owner left some stains on them. Even got rid of the curb rash the previous owner put on them too. If you DO go to Highland, ask for Derek as your service advisor. The shop foreman is Alex, and he's told me he doesn't care about the exhaust, as long as the issue isn't exhaust related. StealthViggen 10-25-07, 11:38 PM I go to Old Mill Cadillac on Bloor and Kingsway area. Steve Grech Is the service manager and he is awesome. I have had the Diff replaced, Warranty on the F1's, and both headlights replaced for cracks. Diff took a couple of tries but after the thing was leaking and clutch packs started sticking and the thing groaned around every corner he replaced it for me. I have some mods (xpipe, CAI, Shifter) and he has not said anything. Angelo or Steve in service should be able to look after you better. Tell them Peter B sent you. I have a black 05 V. ctsv154 10-26-07, 04:08 AM When you pick it up just tell them you are not going to pay the 115 to drop the exhaust. Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard! What about the dealer installed exhaust? Would they have charged to drop the "aftermarket" exhaust if it was dealer installed? Thats like saying, "since you dont have the original factory wheels, we have to charge you an extra 20 a wheel when we take the wheels off to replace the diff."
Dont mean to hijack but this is kind of the same problem. Ever since I bought my car I have had a problem with the plastic under the front of the car falling down. Well when it hangs down it leave the inner fenders unsupported at the bottom. Well one day it rained like crazy and there was standing water everywhere. Long story short, I hit a "lake of water on the highway" and it broke the passenger side inner fender and the brake duct fell out. When I got the car back they were going to charge me to replace the inner fender because it was broke! I told them they were full of crap and I wasn't paying for anything because it never would have broke if the plastic clips they keep putting in would stay in. And they didn't even replace the brake duct. I took the car back to them 2 weeks later and to fix even more crap they didn't the first time and made them replace the brake duct to. Was never charged again. I guess they figure it wouldn't do any good.
Moral of the story, dont settle. Dont let them push you around and dont pay them to do a job they have to do anyway to fix a problem that is GM's fault in the first place! rand49er 10-26-07, 07:03 AM My Corsa is not a single piece like the stock exhaust, and my dealer charged me a hundred bucks to remove and reinstall it when they did my first diff. I wasn't thrilled, but understood that there was a difference in the two systems, and the Corsa is certainly more work. Frankly, I was happy to get the diff. Roy Foss' policy to charge for the Magnaflow is a bit of gouging IMO.
The next time (this past June) I got a new diff, they didn't say a thing and just installed the it without charging me for the exhaust. Go figure. However, both times I had to adjust the exhaust 'cause it was touching the crossbar and rattling. It's all good ... I'm happy. My dealer really is great. When you pick it up just tell them you are not going to pay the 115 to drop the exhaust. Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard! What about the dealer installed exhaust?
