View Full Version : This should be Classic only Cadillac Owners.com v90hamm77 10-25-07, 12:17 AM How come every time someone in this forum sees a Cadillac that someone has customized to their liking, they start a thread downgrading them and making very stereotypical comments about it? If you don't like Cadillacs like that, you don't have to make it seem like its wrong for someone to do what the hell they want with their own money. I really think that this is some bulls**t! QUOTE "Watermelon Kool-aid and KFC anyone?" What do you mean by that? QUOTE "It's sort of a "ghetto" thing" What do you drink and eat when you leave your Cadillac stock, or just reprogram the computer, put Impala SS and 9C1 Caprice parts on it? What's that "intelligence and sophistication at its finest"? Everyone's Cadillac wasn't meant to be the same as it was when it left the factory. But its cool to turn your Cadillac into a racecar, instead of buying a damn Corvette (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#), that's meant for racing, and taking to the track and blowing the engine. Every car owner on the globe has done something to make their car unique or just special to them. Who are you people to decide what's right or wrong. Show me the law on car customization (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#). You have the right to say it, that's not a question. But it doesn't mean its right. I grew up in a "ghetto". I'm far from having no intelligence and sophistication. I made it out of that hell and got good grades in school, college,6 hours away from completing my masters;all at 23 years old. I have worked while in college earning money to pay for my 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) Brougham with clean money, not drug money as some may assume. I see the looks on faces when I'm at stop lights or gas stations. My car is bone stock, but they look at me like its stolen. Maybe its because I live in the most racist state in America. I get the same feeling from constantly seeing this crap in threads like this. Take it how u want to, you all are expressing your feelings and I'm expressing mine. I don't think the creators of this forum intended it to be a way for people downgrade people's creativity. Its still a damn Cadillac. So if I put big rims on my car and paint it some loud color, I just threw out my college education and became "ghetto"? You have got to be freakin kidding me. Get a life and stop looking at cars like this if you don't like them. I'll stop looking at these dumbfounding threads!! CaddyshackCadillac 10-25-07, 12:26 AM ok.............. Cadillac Giovanni 10-25-07, 12:34 AM The issue isn't so much what they do, it's that they all do the same thing. If I had a dollar for every Cadillac I saw on 22 inch rims, painted in horrific neon colors, well, I'd have a lot of money, and I probably wouldn't be here contesting your point. Every ugly pimped out Cadillac is the same as the next. People spend tons of money to do things to a car to "customize" it, and in turn make it the same as everyone else's. Funny, huh?
A lot of times it's a certain kind of person that does those things to a car, and the observation of that, and subsequent remarks are something known as humor.
Get a load of this. We have just as much a right to deride people for doing that to a car as you have to deride us for deriding people for doing that to a car. Opinions are opinions. You don't have to like mine and I don't have to like yours.
It isn't a racist thing (I've never made any of those comments myself) but black people DO eat a lot of chicken...
You can't be offended by the truth, and if you are, well, maybe you should stop taking it out on the people who are only pointing out the truth. Benzilla 10-25-07, 12:35 AM v90hamm, check out my last response in the other thread. v90hamm77 10-25-07, 12:54 AM The issue isn't so much what they do, it's that they all do the same thing. So all the pimped out cars are the same as the next, all the stock ones are the same! Pimped out cars have more variation than stock. You'll see three different cars but they'll look identical. What's the excitement in that? Cadillac Giovanni 10-25-07, 01:05 AM There's an excitement in seeing the car itself, because Cadillacs are nice looking cars to start, and some of the older ones are rare, and certainly a treat. Most people don't think they need any more accessories. It would be like trying to dress up a tuxedo.
The fact is, that somehow, subculture determined that to make a Cadillac look better, you make it really ugly. Some people don't think they're ugly, but then again, some people also think rap sounds good, and that it's cool to have your pants so low you can see your underwear. These kind of people are usually one and the same, suggesting some sort of basic genetic malfunction perhaps.
Sure a lot of people like "donks" as you call them, but as evidenced by this forum, just as many, if not more, think they are as ugly as all hell. Both opinions are valid. Your original argument seems to not appear to be with the opinion, but rather the people making the opinion, and that, sir, is stupid. Nobody has insulted you, nobody has accused you of anything, and if they have, well, tough rocks pal. It's a free country. You can disagree with what someone thinks, but don't tell us not to have these opinions at all. This is a Cadillac forum, not a "Pimp My Ride" forum. Most people here do like their cars stock. If you don't like it, nobody is making you stay here. Benzilla 10-25-07, 01:09 AM I couldn't have said it better myself. v90hamm77 10-25-07, 01:28 AM I said in the original argument that I was expressing my opinion just like them. I just didn't like the stereotypes. I also said that I was going to stop looking at those type of threads. I never said people couldn't have or express their opinions. I'm not going anywhere!! Cadillac Giovanni 10-25-07, 02:20 AM Well, if anyone offended you, I'm sorry. There were a lot of points being made in that first thread, and some things didn't display correctly, something wrong with the text, so I may have been confused.
By they way, to answer one of your original questions, I kept my Cadillac stock, and I eat a lot of pizza. I don't know if it's related though... I~LUV~Caddys8792 10-25-07, 02:36 AM To sum it up...Cadillacowners.com, atleast the RWD Fleetwood/deVille section, is made up by people mainly who prefer the Cadillacs in their stock form, myself included. There aren't a whole lot of people on here who like them customized, and very few who like donks. This just isn't the place for that..just like layitlow.com isn't a place for stock Cadillacs...simple as that. Not saying that it's wrong or great that we're not big on custom cars here, it's just how it turned out after all these years, and in the future, we might see a big shift towards the custom lifestyle on here... urbanski 10-25-07, 07:42 AM keep it in that one thread | |
