anyone here have one that beat this?
Warren iametarq 10-24-07, 09:19 AM Wow. Why don't they have a picture of the odo for proof? :) is it original miles? maybe the motor or transmission has been replaced. Wow. I dount anyone would overstate the miles on a car for sale..if anything people generally try to understate them
as for the engine and trans..I have no idea if they are original...anyone in Twin cities area to verify?
Warren ted tcb 10-24-07, 11:40 AM Here is a link to the "highest mileage?" thread over at ClubLexus.
Lots of people closing in on 300k, one guy is at 460k ... these cars have lots of front end
issues as they age, but the powertrains are gaining quite the reputation for longevity.

I know it's not a Lexus, but damn.
Don dwight.j.carter 10-24-07, 06:09 PM That is pretty darn good I hope my STS lasts that long. I won't need a car till I am 60. Bi6DogJ 10-24-07, 06:12 PM well im new to cads, and the one i just purchased is at 165k .. but my ford 2003 F350 diesel has over 400k ..... TOWING miles as well ..... Bi6DogJ 10-24-07, 06:12 PM I am cheating though, it is a diesel ... thats not cheating bacause its a diesel
remember the GM diesels of the early to mid 80's?
Lots of those blew before 50K miles
Warren z06bigbird 10-25-07, 01:39 AM Recently parked next to a guy with a 90 Geo Metro ($6995). He told me he had 577,000 miles on it. Unbelieveable. 3 cylinder. He also had a little spiral binder with maint history. I~LUV~Caddys8792 10-25-07, 02:44 AM Pfft...Lexus. :nono: Playdrv4me 10-25-07, 04:43 AM There are Saabs and Volvos that routinely exceed 500k and go as high as 1 Million miles. 380k is nothing special for a Lexus, especially the 1UZ-FE V8.
There's a reason people pay a premium for those cars, I'm selling the 90 with 107k for 5500.00, and with that kind of top end mileage not just expected, but demanded by their owners, it is easy to see why. Night Wolf 10-25-07, 06:40 AM On my other computer I've got some pictures of a '98+ Town Car with ~846,000 miles, in pretty good shape.... computers not working right now tho. LS1Mike 10-25-07, 10:25 AM When I was in the Navy there was a guy on my Submarine named Anthony Smallwood, yes smallwood...Anyway he had a 1991 S-10 truck they hed got from his father and is was all original it had 430,000 miles on it when he transfered to shore duty.
When I finally sold my 91 S-10 Blazer it had 340,000 on it. The biggest thing I ever had to do to it was the intake manifold gasket at 220,000 miles.
I know there used to be a list on the fullsize chevy/gmc board I used to frequent. You got on the list when the truck hit over 400,000 miles on the original engine. There were a few 5.3s on the list already. I~LUV~Caddys8792 10-25-07, 01:00 PM GM has a million mile club for the Silverados/Sierras.
Mercedes has a million mile club too, mainly filled up with those old turbo diesel models. There's a reason people pay a premium for those cars
There is indeed. I just can't figure out what that reason is. vacuumbed 10-25-07, 05:03 PM I think this one beat it!

The guy used it as a daily driver and he worked in NYC. That car was a tank. That was my first stick shift and I beat the tar out of that car and it took a licking and kept on ticking. it had the original tranny and motor in it and I sold it for $3000 and it had over 250k miles on it then. Awesome awesome car! The only thing that ever went wrong on it was I was coming home from work one night and it was pouring out and all of a sudden the car started acting weird so I pulled over and it turned out the distributor cap had a crack in it and water was getting in. Replaced that part and I never had an issue with the car again vacuumbed 10-25-07, 06:58 PM There is indeed. I just can't figure out what that reason is.
Neither can I. My 86 4Runner is nearing 400K... I~LUV~Caddys8792 10-25-07, 09:34 PM Shit, that Lexus is ~20 miles away from me, and I've got nothing going on tomorrow..... :sneaky: ted tcb 10-26-07, 10:32 AM Chad ... are the twin cities the epicenter of the universe?
Every unusual car is close by you.
All kidding aside, if you check out the car, post a pic or two.
Thanks. |
