The problem isn't fit. The problem is the ECU. The Catera computer wouldn't know what to do with that fifth gear if it will recognize the transmission at all.

If you're adventurous maybe a Getrag 260 manual 5 speed transmission (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getrag_260_transmission) from the '03-'04 CTS might be made to work. They were also used in the 1984-1991 BMW 3-Series.

n00b here, looking for an answer to a question and this was the closest thread I could find that fit.

I'm considering purchasing a Catera and am wondering about the feasibility of doing a 5-speed swap somewhere down the line. Does the fact that the Omega was offered with a 5-speed help at all? Can Opel parts be made to work with the Catera such that a 5-speed swap would be possible (i.e. reasonably easy to do) and has anyone on here done this?

i did some research into this a while ago.
