How reliable will a first year IS-F going to be, anyway?

I'm all for the uber sport sedan wars!

I'll reserve judgement on this, but thus far it looks like too little too late. Alos no manual transmission is a show stopper for me. Unless the car has a clutch pedal, it just doesn't do it for me.

It will be unveiled at Jan Detroit Auto Show. I can't wait to see how it is recieved at the same show that the Blue Devil Vette and '09 CTS-V are unveiled.

I'm not sure what other reactions you expect to get out of this forum. I have a feeling mine will be one of the most subdued.

I am looking forward to the Nissan GT-R, and the BMW 135i. Different cars, but interesting none the less.

Good time to be a car nut :D

heh, those tips are pretty fugly. I like the tips on the Acura TL-S, but the Lexus, not so much (or at all).

I guess it beats a big ole fart can though.

Me too, but not because I want to buy their's. We all benefit when GM steps it up, as do not think we would own Vs if not for the Ms, AMGs, etc...

the ISF is supposed to be the new flagship of the Lexus lineup.

i'm not a big fan of the ricer-looking exhaust pipes (diagonal? what were they thinking lol), but we all know how easy it is to changed exhausts...

and yes, i'm definately going to be considering it. two people I know very well have a Lexus, and when they need warranty work done on their cars (rare), Lexus brings them a loaner, and drives their car back. takes care of them 110%

I've got to admit, I'm a big fan of how all these manufacturers have their "performance" division, and how they're plastering them on the sides of the cars :D
BMW with the "M"
Cadillac with the "V"
Volvo with the "R"
and now Lexus jumping onto the boat with the "F" :D: D :D

Fugly if you ask me. I'm sure it'll be a good all-around car as Lexus doesn't really produce half-baked cars. But the car, to me, says 'I'm a hot rich chick that wants to become famous by leaking a sex-tape of myself into the mainstream.'

1. It's missing a pedal.

2. Don't forget the 3 leter wars:

AMG
SVT
SRT3. It's not Type R for volvo. That's a JAG. Volvo is:

i dunno. as "great" as the cadillac is, and yeah, i've loved it for years, i'm not going to lie when i say that the 'problems' that the car's infamous for (some of which are already starting to affect me), and the dealerships' attitudes on fixing them, are really starting to wear on me :-/

Yeah, but you still love the car. Trade your dealership, not the car...

I don't get excited about overpriced Toyotas, especially when they put the center console out of an f*ing Camry in them.

That thing looks like an Avalon with a bad aftermarket body kit on it.

yeah you're right :( but every dealership in Houston has a similar attitude. i just don't trust any of them, and i'm running out of choices (2 down, 4 to go in Houston)

A Toyota with chrome trim = Craptastic.

The truth is starting to catch up with reality. (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071016/UPDATE/710160435/1148/rss25)

:yeah: I knew it looked familiar! They took a slow car and tried to make it look fast. lol

I grew up on Caddies. My 2 SLSs had no problems to worry about. The V has some issues (nothing big yet), but it's a hot rod,,,we deal with it.

Exactly. Cadillacs have soul.

A Lexus is a lifeless Toyota jellybean with a big chrome, sometimes gold, big loser L plastered all over it.

Lexus owners don't know they don't have any torque.

Looks like they need to either tweak that rear suspension setup or teach those people how to drive, because a lot of that oversteer looked unintentional.

If they could give the exhaust note of the 6.3 on the raw power of the old E55 powerplant, I could forgive the slushiness...

Judging from the first two videos I'm betting they were just Lexus employees they let drive them. I'm sure they still need to tweak some things as well, but then it's not released to the public yet.

Just read the Autoweek press drive review. Yaguchi said the new M3 is not fun if your a not a good driver. Looks like it is aimed at the really poor driver making it fun to drive.

Wonder how they'll spin this in marketing department. Looks like they are already trying as the inside cover ad, 10/29, says, "F is everything you thought we weren't.". :). Very sad!

BADILAC has been 100% RELIABLE!!
BADILAC is reliable in thrilling me any time I ask, which is every day.
BADILAC reliably makes *******s of the typical bmw 5 series ilk which includes the snotty Lexus line.
BADILAC reliably gets wow type comments from enthusiasts all over SE Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and WNY.
BADILAC reliably LOVES to race Corvettes and sometimes wins!
My Cadillac Dealer (Don Massey) calls BADILAC in occasionally for some stable time and gives me some boring substitute which RELIABLY reminds me how much I miss BADILAC when we are separated.
I have never, EVER had a more RELIABLE automobile.

The last IS was not a hit with any racing series here in the states. I highly doubt that anything will change with the new model. But what would be neat is since every manufacturer has a performance sedan with a V8, a series could be started just for them!
