View Full Version : 1st Allante post Allante North * 01-01-03, 12:02 PM Hello Everyone!
I guess someone had to be first, and I will Volunteer. Being from the Volunteer State I guess its only natural that I start what I hope is the first of many to come.
I have a "93" Cadillac Allante that is Triple Black with just a few modifications. She is mostly a garage queen as I only drive her when the weather is nice. Black cars and rain mean that you get to clean them more often. I don't like to drive her dirty, so I keep her under cover unless I get an urge for some power. Being a garage queen dosen't mean that I don't like a little challange from time to time. I have taken her to the track once, but hope to return in the spring. I have only run 1/8 mile, but did ok for completely stock. Best run of the night was 9.95 @76.3mph. I hope the Borla Mufflers will help some on ET's in the spring. I would like to try 1/4 mile track in Bristol, Tn this spring just to see if I am competative with other Nortstars times posted on the GMForum.
I posted an older picture to let y'all see what see looks like. I hope to add the seven spoke Cadillac chrome rims soon, and some better tires. Thanks for looking and I hope you have a Great 2003.
Don Mad'lac 01-01-03, 02:56 PM Howdy friend!!
Nice to see the site getting more hits as the day goes by :)
Just figured I'd welcome ya here. I know what you mean about black cars. I had 2 NC (non-Caddy) in black and spent at least 1/2 my weekend cleaning them. Now I'm asking for it again with my Fleetwood being black and that I'm going to paint her Mecerdes Black when I get all the parts for her. Again Welcome:) BeelzeBob 01-01-03, 03:25 PM Hey! Where's that picture? I'd like to see.. :) Remember the Buick Reatta? My God.. That car probably would have been considered really nice if it weren't for the Allante! What a unique two seater car.. How did they handle? I've never had a ride in on... Allante North * 01-01-03, 04:49 PM Looks like the file size is to large. Is there any way to increase the file size?
Don BeelzeBob 01-01-03, 09:37 PM Hey Don,
What's the file size? I'm not sure what I want to set the file size to yet.. Currently, it's set at 102k.. If you'd like, I'll resize the image for you and post it up.. If it's 150k or so, I'll bring the file size up.. But if it's much higher, I'd rather edit the size in Adobe Photoshop for you... Allante North * 01-02-03, 12:48 AM Hi Sal,
The file size is about 103K, but some are much bigger. I tried to zip it, but it was still to large. I put a picture on the GMForum that should have been about the same size. I will try it again, and I will cross my fingers.
It is still too big. You may want to increase the file size, or I could email it to you. I am sure posters will want to put up some pictures and I would love to see other members cars.
Don BeelzeBob 01-02-03, 12:59 AM I'll make it 200k for now.. Hopefully you can get most of your pics up.. Otherwise, just email me what you have and I'll reduce their size while maintaining their integrity.

Don, let me know when you go to Bristol to run! I live in Blacksburg, only about two hours away (in Virginia). I'd like to come down and race when you go. Maybe we can get a few members from this forum to come down and have a good time! Allante North * 01-02-03, 10:51 PM Jadcock,
Yeah, I'd love to meet up in Bristol. I left you an invite on the GMForum under either kill stories or took the caddy to the track. I'm about 2-2.5 hours South of Bristol. We can check to see when the open in the Spring and try to set something up. I noticed that some other members are from VA, and maybe they can join us.
I noticed on your web site that you have a power T on your front plate. How did that get there if you are a VT Man? jadcock 01-03-03, 08:16 AM The car used to be owned by my mom, and my younger brother used to go to UTK. That picture was taken back when mom owned it, at my folks' house in West Knoxville. :) Allante North * 01-03-03, 11:30 PM Hello Jadcock,
I live in Harriman, Tn about 25 miles west of your folks. I would bet that there is a VT tag on the front now. Looking forward to Bristol and seeing if we can surprise some folks with Caddy's at the starting line. Last check with the BIR web site did not list the spring schedule. I have some friends close by that I get to keep their ears open. I would hope that we can pick up some more interest on this site and the GMForum. Maybe we can get a good cross section of Cadillacs to run on the same night.
Don Allante North * 01-04-03, 06:18 PM Thanks for reducing the size of the pictures Sal. Here is a picture of my Triple Black "93" Allante. jadcock 01-05-03, 05:43 PM Oooooh!!! Nice!!!
I can't wait to hear it at Bristol. I'd love to hear what Borla mufflers sound like on a Northstar. I've been considering a muffler replacement for sometime and because of past experience, I will only consider Borla mufflers. They are expensive, but every bit worth that price. BeelzeBob 01-05-03, 11:33 PM Yeah, that car is too nice. Isn't it? :) It must sound awesome with Borlas.. Someone around here has an Eldorado with Flowmasters and it just doesn't sound right... Allante North * 01-06-03, 12:03 AM The Borla's do sound good. I think the Corsa's sound great as well. Corsa's are real expensive and come as a package deal for close to a grand. I got into the Borla's for a lot less. If you want to hear what your Caddilac will sound like with the Corsa's try this link.

The Borla's sound a bit deeper in tone. Mad'lac 01-06-03, 12:08 AM Nothing like a nice growl from a Cadillac :D Makes me wish I had a North* BeelzeBob 01-07-03, 09:12 AM Are the Corsa's squarish out the back? Or round? I'll have to take a listen to that link later on. :p Allante North * 01-07-03, 02:34 PM Hi Sal,
I'm not real sure. Look at the site, and they may have both. Personally I like the stock tips that are on the newer Cadillacs.
Don BeelzeBob 01-07-03, 04:38 PM They're round and they look good on that STS. :) And I like the stock tailpipes on the new Caddy's as well.. Nothing wrong with them at all... Maximln 01-12-03, 06:29 PM Don,
How do you like the Allante? I had a white diamond 93 but it just wasn't for me. If I could have afforded a second Cadillac as a daily driver, it would have been OK. It just didn't seem as comfortable on long trips but it was a beautiful car. It even had the hardtop option. Does yours? I wish I still had it. . .
Max Allante North * 01-12-03, 07:56 PM Hi Max,
I love it, and think that it is very comfortable. We only took it on one long trip, and my wife slept most of the way. The seats will adjust to about any position that you want. Mine is more or less a garage queen. I will drive it about 800 miles this week on a business trip and I am looking forward to it.
Mine did not have the hardtop, but I did buy a Phase one top for it and had it modified to fit. The top still needs just a bit of tweeking to make it right. There is a small gap where the faux vent window on pre 93 Allantes was. I had to dye the headliner black since it was red, and had the exterior painted to match. It looks good, and I have no regrets getting it. Original hardtops for "93" Allantes are bringing $3,000-$6,000 on Ebay and in private sales. I have about $1,100 in mine with purchase, shipping, paint, modification, and leathermagic dye.
What I like best about it is that it is rare, and performs like a sports car. There are millions of Corvettes, but only 15,000 - 20,000 Allantes produced ever. I drove lots of muscle cars in my youth, and the Allante would run with them. Its not a 442 or a GTO, but is pretty quick for a Cadillac. I really like the STS and wouldn't mind having one, but my wife would like to have a Benz Ragtop. I guess I will have to try to make her happy. I will not sell my Allante for a Benz, but will let her have one later just to keep the peace. "
If Momma ain't happy nobody's happy, if daddy ain't happy, nobody cares."
Don BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 09:05 AM Uhh. Benz.. They used to be nice.. A couple of my friends have been very unsatisfied with the way their new Mercedes' have been running.. Many problems.. Check into things before you get it.. They both had Cadillacs beforehand - and complained a lot - but never complained as much as with the Mercedes.. The cars are always being fixed.. They're not the same as they used to be... | |
