: New guy

Good Day Gentlemen,

I joined the world of gentlemen about 6 years ago with the purchase of
a one year old 2000 STS. It had 10,000 miles and was a very good buy .
I enjoyed the car , especially the northstar engine .
i just recently came across a 2006 STS with 16,000 miles , 1SC package,
AWD , and again a very good purchase price , so i bought it , in platinum with grey interior.
I appreciate the refinement over the older model , very smooth tranny,
and a responsive 3.6 liter engine . i thought i would miss the V8 ( i actually
do ) but the 6 cylinder is more than adaquate .
The 2008 CTS was substantially more than i paid for the 2006 STS in canadian dollars with my trade . That was my first choice , but the STS
offered some much more value . I was also looking at a 2008 Lexus ES350,
but it was a rather plain looking car. My wife said go with the Caddy.

Thank you for the information posted regarding deficiencies , as i have two
of them that the dealer will attend to under warranty .

best regards,

Welcome to the forum! There's ladies here too ya know haha. Post pictures of your caddys (past and present) when you get a chance.

The STS is a great car  I'm right now in the works of trying to get an 08 CTS myself. Please let me know how that is working for you.

New here myself. Owner of an 05 STS V8 with 29k, recently got it out of the shap after someone hit me. Love getting into it everyday.

My apologies to all the ladies , as i was refering to that commercial a few years ago where the two groups of guys were getting out of DTS`s at a
golf course and one group of guys welcomed the other group of guys to the
world of gentlemen .

My 2008 CTS experience did not go over well , the car was great , but the price difference with my trade was $ 19,000.00 ( canadian ) more than i paid for the 2006 STS . The CTS seemed a little tighter in back seat room also,
and did not have all the options that the STS has ( nav, sunroof ).
I gave up 2 years of warranty , but the price differential makes up for it,
and i have the priviledge of driving an STS again.

I noticed this morning the shortcomings of the V6 though on the highway ,
where my northstar would light up and take off, i was at the limit with the
V6 . I did have a vibration problem with the 2000 STS at 65 mph, and dont
miss that .

You have/have had some nice low mileage cars. Neat.

Smooth move, and welcome. I too recently traded my '02 STS for an '05 STS with 3,445 miles. I couldn't justify the new CTS price versus my find, although the new CTS is very nice. I was also plagued with vibration on the '02, that is def. not missed.
