Found a 05 CTS-V CPO. Need a vin check. 1G6DN56S750188969
Also would like to have the in service date to know how much time is left on the CPO warranty. I've been lurking around here for a while and have finally decided to trade in my M3 for V. It's silver with about 40k miles on it, has Corsa exhaust and new tires. Any suggestions on what a good price would be? Thanks.

Wow. Thanks. It looks pretty clean to me. Do you have any comments about anything on there? Has all the recall work been done? Is there any way to tell if it has the higher end suspension?

According to the VIN you posted, it has the FE4 (standard) shocks, but are you sure that's the right VIN? I ask because you said it's silver, and the VIN you posted is Black Raven.

I better call them to be sure. I haven't seen the car yet. That's the vin they gave me and told me it was silver with black interior.

That one is Silver for sure :D. It has the FE4 (standard) suspension also, and the CPO is good through 2/16/2011.

Thanks so much. Should I be concerned about the replacement of the Rear Diff carrier mount? That was only 1000 miles ago. What does VIP Freight/Postage mean? It doesn't really indicate what the towing was for on 8/11/06. Is that unusual?

The diff carrier mount is a normal issue with these cars- it may have just needed tightening, but either way it's no big deal. VIP postage is when they rush deliver a part so the customer isn't without their car for too long.

The towing claim was just after the bushing replacement, so the owner probably was afraid of damaging the car by driving and requested a tow (which is unnecessary, but smart if you aren't familiar with the problem). The Dealer probably just waited a few days to submit the towing reimbursement claim.

It looks pretty good to me!

Cosmetically the car was ok. It had some scratches on the top of the passenger side fender (like they parked under a shrub), that they said they would buff out as best they can and apply touch up paint if I wanted. The nav buttons looked awful, like melting ice cream. I didn't realize that the button wear issue was that severe. How much money did GM save by not molding the buttons out of grey plastic? But at least they said they'd replace them under warranty. Also the bezel where you load CD's was worn, but they said they'd replace it under warranty. The hooks in the trunk where the cargo net attaches where broken (warranty again). On the test drive the armrest was really squeaky and they were willing to try to fix that. The wheels had the clearcoat peeling pretty significantly and they were unwilling to trade them with the wheels from another V. I figured I’d talk them down an extra $500 and buy someones stock wheels from the forum.

Now mechanically the car was awesome it has the Corsa exhaust and the sound was amazing. It was loud and throaty when you floor it but quiet when cruising. Also engine wise it was the strongest V I've ever driven (driven a 2005 & a 2007 before this one) and it was even noticeable for the salesman. I looked for signs of mods but as far as I could see it was stock and it passed the CPO inspection so I was pretty happy with it. The Shifter seemed more rubbery than other V's I've driven, but this car has more miles (def. have to get that short shifter kit).

So I talked numbers and got them down to where I wanted them but they wouldn't give me enough for my trade in. They really lowballed me and gave me a bunch of excuses but they had a car in worse shape than mine but the same year with fewer options and were charging $7k more than they wanted to give for mine. I couldn't let them make anywhere near $7k off my car and still feel good about the deal. So I'm gonna try to sell my car really fast for below market rate and if theirs is still there I'll buy it. Overall it had quite a few little foibles but still has the original rear and it's not whining at all. It seemed unusual for a 2 year old car to have so much interior wear but the seats and carpet were perfect and the wear was in the places I expected from reading the forum. Plus since the service manager seemed so willing to replace these things under the warranty I felt ok about them. On most of the stuff he even admitted that a lot of them have these problems.

The nav/center stack peeling issues are totally normal, as you know. The offer to switch wheels with another V is generous, just be sure they don't gouge the new ones swithcing them over (seen it happen).

Sounds to me like there's a new V owner in our midst- congrats!

Thanks. I'm really excited to get one now and join the ranks here in the forum. After driving a really strong v, I can't imagine how anyone resists buying a maggie for only $5-6k. Although my understanding is that considerable gains can be had from headers, x pipe and stealthV tune, while maintaining a better chance of warranty service than with a Maggie.

I did my mods slowly, one at a time. The difference seemed "good", but not awesome.

I drove a stock 2007 V for the first time in a while yesterday, and WOW- it felt sluggish as hell compared to mine (Flywheel, Headers/cats/Corsa and Stealth tune). Resisting mod hell will be difficult, my friend. :)

I will take your Beemer on trade if you are interested in my 04 V? I saw the description of the V you saw and mine is LIKE NEW! It is on ebay now, it is silver with black interior and kooks, exhaust, tune, cold air and I will negotiate! I will price it to sell it! PM me with phone number or I will PM you mine! I am in NY now but will arrange to make it happen! I am so busy and rarely on here but PM Tony for my number and he will give it to you. Thanks

Well I sold my M3 to a friend and bought that silver CTS-V. So now I'm supporting member and a V owner. I just love driving this thing. The torque is so exhilarating. So far looks like one of the tire sensors is not reading and my nav is stuck in Michigan. Tire sensor was working when I left the dealer but quit sometime before I got home. Other than those things I'm extremely happy. They said they were going to replace the radio due to the button wear. Will that fix my stuck i Michigan problem or will I still need to obtain the firmware disc?

I would assume the radio replacement would have an updated flash in it. Sounds like a way to kill two birds with one stone. (buttons / Mich). However one thing you need to check after they replace the radio before you leave is make sure you can put the car in Competitive Driving mode, if all 4 of your tires sensors are working at the time. Some dealerships forget to program the radio with the TechII to tell it its in a V vs a normal CTS. If they forget (or don't know) you won't be able to select Competitive Driving Mode from the traction control.

Thanks for the tip on the com[etitive mode. I'll be sure to check it. Is it common for a tire sensor to quit working? It was just strange that it stopped 30 minutes after I bought the car.

Not sure how to classify how common the TPS not working is, but it certainly does happen. I would just say coincidence in your case, but no matter it should be a warranty covered item.

The faq says the system that reads the tire sensors also reads the key fobs and one of my key fobs doesn't work either. I guess I have the warranty, so I don't have to figure this stuff out. But was just curious. Thanks.

You will need the firmware flash for your nav.

If your dealer is clueless, pm me and I can hook ya up.

However, all flash discs are out so there is a waiting line.
