Dyno results are a must as soon as possible! 96Fleetwood 10-07-07, 12:00 AM Nice, you are going to love it even more  ShadowLvr400 10-07-07, 08:28 AM Next thing it needs is a cd player. Cadillacboy 10-07-07, 09:45 AM Great, hope you like your new set up ShadowLvr400 10-09-07, 12:05 AM Ok... We have some tuning to do... And to undo/fix... I sorta adjusted the shifts so it'll shift at 5700 instead of 5200. But... I missed the bump up on redline.... So at 5500 under WOT, it hit the rev limiter in the middle of the new cam... Oh, and so far, just 2 degrees advance on timing. The car is definately pulling harder, though I can feel there's more in there. It will be a little while before I'm even close to dialed in. I was advised that I will probably end up with between 4 and 6 degrees of timing advance. I will admit, the car doesn't launch quite the same... One thing it had before was a stunning launch and plennty of tire shredding. Now... Just a little bark, and a less instant response on the low end. However, it isn't bad, and the engine's not fully dialed in yet. Timing could be everything. N0DIH 10-09-07, 08:13 PM If you need help tuning, give me a scream. I don't know LT1Edit, but I do know TunerCat and I do know tuning fairly well on the LT1's.... I can set you up with a base tune to start the car with on the new cam so you are not giving it fits just for cam break in (you don't want to screw that up!!!) Granted, rollers are more forgiving than flat tappets, you don't want to risk it, it is such a critical time... ShadowLvr400 10-11-07, 11:31 AM I would love that Nodih. My 2 issues right now are dialing in the timing, and bumping the redline. I want to move to about 5700 redline. So you know, it's a 96 Fleetwood, the rear gears are 3.42, and the cam is 218/224 at 112 LSA and .500 lift. jayoldschool 10-11-07, 12:11 PM Consider a higher stall converter for the next project. This will really allow you to take advantage of your new combo. Taking out the trans is easy. 3.73s would be a good bet, too. N0DIH 10-11-07, 01:46 PM Off all the mods I have seen, the converter rapidly becomes the choke hold on releasing all the power for the car. Most cars seem to show smaller and smaller gains until the converter is replaced, then they really wake up a lot. ShadowLvr400 10-11-07, 01:49 PM 3.73's are shorter than I want for a daily driver. When the tranny goes, I'm going to a 2200-2400 stall. And a tranny cooler of course. The 3.42 was my upgrade from 2.56 open. I need a cd player too. Some of the local radio is awful at times. After that, I'm going to stop playing with the Fleetwood. It'll be Lincoln time then. | |
