Hi everyone. Just bought a 1992 Brougham and it's on it's way from FL to me in CA.
Just wanted to know if there was a way to check the build date and equipment by VIN.
I know with my Harley Ford I was able to find it.

With GM, there is a way to check that, but their records, for the most part, don't go back farther than 2000.

Congrats! The VIN allows you to figure out the engine it has, but that is about it.

This isn't a sure thing but it worth looking when i replaced my hood liner I found a factory line build sheet taped to the bottom of the hood. it gives a schedule/job number it also list's all the option codes. I'm not sure if that will help much since mine is a letters followed by a string of numbers. Never got around to trying to decode it if is even possible. The number is A3017734 mine is a 1993. If you got the sequence number off the end of the vin and got vin sequence # of know build dates thorough some figuring and known production numbers you might be able to figure out if is a late build or early. I figure a closer date though revisions of the emissions parts and changes made to other things if possible. You may never get an exact month or day. lucky for me the local dealer had sold it and did the work on it over the years.
