I have no right to ask, but just for shits and giggles, how 'bout we run my old CTS-V VIN for warranty history. I'm also curious as to how the new owner(s) have faired.

Which Chris are your referring to? Both Truk and myself are Chris's. I'm not sure why he posted his repair history. I posted mine because I think it's hilarious. I wish you could laugh with me, but some people are born angry. Trust me, if anyone has a right to be pissed it would be me. Afterall they were my $100,000 worth of cars, not yours. If you don't like my thread, you don't need to read or post in it, pretty simple. Here's my top five things to get pissed about in no particular order:

1) National Deficit
2) Iraq War - 2 very close relatives over there right now
3) Health Care Costs
4) Cancer - Took my Dad and in the process of taking my Mom
5) Racism - especially since I have an inter-racial marriage

You see, V's, Cadillacs, GM and you aren't even on it. Peace my brother and please find something useful to get pissed about. I'm certainly not worth it.

I just don't get it,your obviously happy with your srt8 and i'm sure theres some out there with long rap sheets too.Why aren't you posting them in here also?Might even be funny, post them up quick though.Same old shit gets old quick, and for the record i'm neither angry or pissed.

This sounded angry to me, but the again when people use SHIT and F*CK it usually conveys anger. If you're not angry, than why the profanity? Certainly you're better than that. Why come into a fun thread like this and fill it with angst? I don't understand what you don't understand. Florian, Trukk, StealthV and myself were just reminiscing and having some fun. We never intended it to be at your expense. I assure you I will have very little effect on the resale of your near 50,000 mile CTS-V. Again, you're not even in my top 5. Seriously find something else to direct this energy at, I am truly not worth the time you're spending on me.

I didn't realize all 4 of you guys started this thread,i'm very sorry for my mistake.I'm just still wondering why you feel the need to tell a completely different group of ctsv owners that the V's a piece of shit. You do realize forum group memberships turn over every couple of years. If Dave or Rick have a problem with my questions they can e-mail me or call me.How many views we up to now in this thread?Or better yet,how many new viewers.

CVP33
10-06-07, 01:29 AM
I'm sure you're a great guy and I do not wish you any harm in any way. I just don't think this thread is what is hurting CTS-V resale value. Hell, the new C6 Corvettes are great cars. Go to the Corvette forum. There's currently a 2005 with every option and only 3K miles in the for sale section for $42.9K that stickered for over $60K. $78K Z06's are selling for $60K. Hell, even the SRT-8's with stickers above $47K or going for $36K. Cars continue to be a terrible investment. Posting Trukk's and my repair history was just for giggles. I'm not trying to tear down the V or the forum for that matter.

I think if you review my last 60 or so posts you'll find I've been pretty even handed and borderline helpful. Even when goaded by the best (BigJim).

EDIT - For the record the V is not a piece of ****. I had some VERY bad luck with my two. Two is statistically insignificant when taken against all V's produced.

I think you'll find my last 60 or so posts have no venting. This thread was never meant as a vent. It was meant to make me and a few of the "old-timers" laugh. I can't speak for why Trukk posted his repair history, but I've met Chris and he's a great guy and I'm sure he meant nothing by it either. Again, I see it as visiting old friends that I met back in 2004 that I like to keep in touch with. I'm not trying to hurt anybody, their investment or their hobby.

I look at it this way, if we were all drinking beers and standing around in my garage what would we be talking about? I'd bring up some crap that I went through with my old car, Trukk would be wearing a woman's golf shirt, BigJim would give me some BS about driving a slush box and StealthV would organize my garage and go optimize my computer, 'cause that's what those engineers do. :histeric:

I would really like to see the ratio of problem-cars to no-problem cars for modded cars and unmodded cars. I bet the ratio is significantly higher on modded cars. I have been on a lot of forums, and it is always the same story. The people complaining about things breaking and dealers giving them a hard time fixing them are the guys who have lots of mods, and I am nearly certain, are pushing their cars very hard. Production cars are not meant for pushing hard with any regularity. Most of the people here are enthusiasts, I understand that, most have mods, and hence, most demand alot from their cars. Well, if you want to play, you have to pay. I find it hard to believe people that have all these problems are having "bad luck." I think you are just expecting too much out of a car that was designed primarily to be transportation. (Yes, that is reason #1 for even the CTS-V)

I am just impressed that GM went so far to try and resolve the issues with those cars.
It would have been very easy for them to deny the claims on the basis of driver abuse.
It almost makes me think GM cares about us.

I appreciate the person who ran this for me. I won't "out" you, unless you wish to take credit for getting this. But here is the warranty claim history:

Trukk and I will take it ala mode. :histeric:

Pay to play? Couldn't agree more. Not meant to take abuse? Well, really the half shafts both failed at speeds under 20mph and rpm's below 1,500. I have no control over PCM recalls, ineffective Parking Brake, Bushing TSB's, Clutch TSB's, leaking radiators, sun visors peeling and NAV buttons peeling. Those certainly have to fall on GM. Then again I don't think those were aimed at me or Trukk personally. There's plenty of failed parts to go around.

Corporate GM did a great job of trying to resolve the warranty claims that the dealer and ASM refused. Kind of like what Mystical Ice, BadCad, rekctsv and many others have experienced and are currently experiencing. As for the ratio of cars with issues vs. not, I've seen some VERY clean warranty history worksheets posted here for used cars so I know there are some very reliable V's out there. Every car and every car make has it's lemons.

looks like everything went downhill after 20k miles.

Just some a hell of alot more (and more common) than others!

I understand that a few cars might have some odd problems, but w/ so many rearends failing, button's peeling, and parking brakes sucking, something was initially done wrong..

I'm with you on that. But I have some niggling issues with my SRT-8 as well. I'm confident that GM will address these issues on the 2009 and we'll ALL be singing a different tune.

On the subject of the '09s, I saw my first '08 CTS yesterday and was very impressed. Looks like if the motor is an LSx with a SC putting out 500+, with potential for 150-200RWHP more, we will fighting to get them in our driveways.

Heh, I was offline for a few days. This has been an interesting thread.

With regard to my 'history', I usually save up my issues and go get them all addressed at once. For instance, I took my car in to be serviced about 10 months after buying it, for the first time, which coincided with the 20k mile mark. I had issues start earlier.

Hope I didn't p!ss on anyones wheaties with my request. I'm never selling my car, so I don't care about resale :D. Yes it's had it's issues. Some of them were definately cause for concern (oil leaks, tranny issues, etc.) I wouldn;t be on my 4th diff, if my car wasn;t under warrantly, and my dealer wasn't Lindsay. Whenever it started to make any noise, they replaced it without another word.

Now regarding Chris, it's so obvious to tell that while he really likes his SRT-8, he had a true love/hate with his V's, due to the maintenance issues. He's hanging around still, becuase you can tell he'll be back in 2010, in a gen-II V.

Well since this got bumped,my Wheaties have not been pissed on,my panties might have been in a bunch the other night.Hope I wasn't to big a dick to cvp,I have always thought he was one of the coolest guys in here.I had no right to flame him for posting a service record,I am sorry Chris,to me,you will always be e-cool.

Sometimes I forget what some of us have gone thru over the years with these cars, maybe the new guys need told too!

Guess I am one of the lucky one's, not too many issues with the V and the one's so far have been minor.

Lucky too because I haven't found a good dealer yet but I have found one that looks promising. You never know until you bring it to him with the rear making a bunch of noise.

Everything after 2/13 was the new owner. God I feel for him/her. Waiting for 500hp and then I'll be back.

I know this is an old thread. But interestingly enough, I was the next owner. Unfortunately, warranty histories weren't readily available when I bought the car. But I did find the right service department over at then Action Cadillac in Portsmouth, and they did a great job putting that car back together, including removing the junk add-ons like the shifter that probably caused a lot of the drivetrain problems in the car. I never blew the thing up, just IDed the problems and brought the car back into specs. I owned it for 5 years, and just traded it a couple of weeks ago for a new F150. But because of the previous damage the car was like a bad girlfriend for me....I loved it, but could never trust it.

I'm pissed that someone might have beat my 6 replacement diffs.
