I was watching an older episode the other day, and it was the "flashback" of when Homer was semi-rich/famous from being in a barbershop quartet. Didn't notice when I was younger, but check out what kind of car Homer bought his dad with all that coin...

I wonder where I can find one in pink with a purple interior...

Nice. Isn't Homer's regular car a Cadillac? It's a beat up sedan with fins.

Actually this reminds me of another episode. Ever see the one with Homer in the 70s dating Marge? He's driving an old beater to Steve Miller "Space Cowboy" and singing along. Look closely and the car is one of those winged Mopars like a SuperBee.

Hilarious. The perpetual loser had the car as a kid and it would have been worth megabucks if he kept it... but of course we figure he drove it into the ground. That's why Simpsons is such great writing... you get the subtle joke if it's your thing.

I think you can find them like that from Mary Kay Cosmetic Saleswomen.

I noticed that too, kind of reminds me of that scene in Goodfellas where Johnny Roast Beef buys that pink '79 for his wife "it's a coupe, I love that car". What is it with the pink cars? If somebody bought me a Cadillac that they had painted pink I'd smack 'em then make them pay for a paint job.

Although I do have a weird fascination for the Mary Kays. There's a brand new Mary Kay Edition DTS in my area, actually a nice looking car in it's own right. And when I was coming home from Detroit I saw a whole truck load of brand new Mary Kay Cadillacs with the plastic still on them!

This also reminds me of Hank Hill's father's 'Cadillac car' on King of the hill.

Funny you should mention a Mary Kay DTS, Ben - just yesterday I saw a Mary Kay CTS, complete with wanky pinkish paint (looked like the white lightening paint, but with a pink-hued clearcoat) and the Mary LKay script on the front side fenders!!!!!!

Wonder who they had to blow to get the pint-sized caddy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,;)

Wasn't that car on King of the Hill an early 80's Eldorado?

Oh and are Mary Kay cars custom ordered from the factory, or are they stock cars sent to a coach firm?

His first 'Cadillac car' was an Eldorado, after that he got a tan '80s Brougham.

The Eldorado. Kind of looks like a Lincoln too don't you think?

The second one, something like a '85 Fleetwood Brougham. Maybe a 1980-1984 Sedan DeVille since it doesn't appear to have a carriage top, although it does have the wider rocker molding, if only it had a hood ornament I could tell ...... god, I need help. lol.

Right now I really can't remember if the Mary Kays are from the factory or a coach firm, although I'd think seeing a truckload of all pink ones would suggest the later. The new ones also have a custom 'Mary Key' script on the side.

No, it has to be a brougham because it has the formal rear limo window...lol. I don't think the artists even tried THAT hard, so they don't even know...lol

Yeah, the artists on King of the hill weren't too strict with their models. I recall the last time the car was on the show, Hank's dad willed it to his nephew Dusty (Dusty Hill of ZZ Top fame, haha), and there it was more consistent in it's appearance, I believe it was portrayed as a late 70s sedan, yet Hank and his friends talked about riding in the back as kids so it should have been older. I believe in the end the car was used in a demolition derby, then restored and buried nose first in the Cadillac Ranch, which is sort of cool.

Homer's car isn't a Cadillac, but it's probably inspired by one. It has a generic 80s "big American car" look to it. I'm glad he still drives it, it's a call back to the glory days of the show.

I believe a joke in one episode revealed Homer's car was built in Croatia, out of decommissioned Soviet tanks, despite it's overtly American appearance...

If you recall the Simpsons episode where people accuse Homer of being rich, he tells someone that his car is made in Guatemala.

Oh and why is it in this scene, you look right through the rear window and see the wall, but there's no A-pillar or post or even a driver for that matter!

You can even see the fern coming through...lol. Maybe is a play on the 20's 'driver's cars' in which the front had no roof. hahahaha

Yeah....I always thought Homers car was a Cadillac too when I was younger. The rear looks like one but the nose only has single headlights on each side which haven't been seen on a Cadillac since 57. Does anyone else think Marges wagon is a mid-70's Chevy Malibu?

Yes! Everybody thinks I'm crazy.

Also, way beck before I knew the Simpsons very well, I kind of thought Homer's car was that old pink Cadillac that he bought for his father, then ended up driving all beat up years later, and chalked up the headlights to crappy animation. lol.

Yeah, Marge's wagon is a lot like a mid 70's chevy. Knowing Matt Groening's penchant for making his own world part of the Simpson's world (His mom and dad are named Marge and Homer), I bet his parents had equivalent cars when he was younger.

The thing I love most about Homer's car, is that no matter how often it gets totaled, or to whatever degree, it always gets completely restored, except for that dent on the front left fender. I can almost imagine, every time Homer drives it out of the body shop, he probably smashes the fender in on a pole by the door, every time.

D'OH!
