: Upgrading Nav Disk

I would like to upgrade the Nav disk on my '05 so that info is more current (restaurants, serivice stations, and of course, roads.) I noticed on a recent trip to California that the Garmin I bought and took along to use with my rental didn't miss a beat, even with most of the new developments in the Las Vegas area.

What's the best way to get a current NAV disk (short of stealing one)? How much are they, where can I get one, and what version should I look for? I believe my current version is 6.0.

On an '05 you might need the flash before you can even consider an upgraded mapset. The flash updated your firmware. Check out the sticky at the top of this forum titled "Navigation System Update (Firmware)". Post there or send a PM to ctsvett or heavymetals. They fixed me up, my '05 needed the flash.

The dealer wanted to charge me $950 for an update 1 1/2 years ago.

I just called the toll free number (Nav Disk) and the current disk available was issued November last year. She said a new one will be out soon....whatever "soon" means......

6.0 is the newest version available right now. I noticed they dropped the price by $100 this week, probably because a new one is coming out.

what about the 04's being upgraded, do they need a flash? and how much is the disk usually if not on sale?

Yup, Heavymetals got my NAV system all updated and ready to roll. You pay a small fee, he ships the patch DVD, use it to update and return to him in included envelope.

Great forum and people!

Thanks, Perry

Thanks for the compliment.

I just wish the three missing flash discs would be returned.

The one you sent to me was placed into the mail yesterday, so you should see it soon.

Thanks, Perry

I wasn't even counting the one sent to you, I trust your sending it back.

I have stopped sending to non-supporting members.

so does this update disk do anything for upgrading the maps? so essentially, to get the new maps, you have to but hundreds on a new disk?
