I am looking into getting and escalade. I want to spend around 23-25k. How bad is maintenance compared to say, a Tahoe? Also are these trucks reliable? Thanks!

They can be expensive if you have problems, it's best to get a GM extended warranty to be safe. They are reliable

I was told by the Chevrolet dealer that does my service, that the suspension on the Escalades can get pricey (more than my Avalanches would have cost). It will be my luck that the CPO warranty that came w/the thing and the GMPP that I bought will both skip out on me through some loophole when I have to get something fixed.

I would think that most things would be similar to a Tahoe/Yukon/Denali (I think the Esc and Denali share the same AWD system).

The only problem I ever had w/2 Avalanches over almost 5 yrs was that the A/C went out on one of them. I've only had the Escalade for a couple of months, but am expecting it to be as reliable.

So far mine's been pretty reliable. The rear air shocks are mad expensive to replace. It's something like 2 grand to be replaced by the dealer.

Bought my certified pre-owned '05 last year with the dealer extended warranty (6 yrs/100K). Truck had 25K miles. For my peace of mind, I went that route to cover any unforeseen mechanical issues down the road since I plan on putting some miles on it. So far no issues. Of course, for routine maintenance, you're going to pay a few dollars more at a Caddy dealer. Even if you decide not to go the Escalade route, I think the extended warranty is going to be your best route....

Does anyone know specifically what is so expensive about the Escalade's rear suspension, and are those components covered under either the CPO warranty or the GMPP Major Guard?
