Okay, I have a situation with the dealer. I had a set of JBA headers installed on my EXT by a qualified installer a few months back. I have developed a small oil leak that the dealer told me today was coming from the base of the oil dip stick. They claim that it was damaged by the installer of the headers and have chosen not to touch it. I spoke today to the installer and he said that he has never seen or heard of such a thing. He said that JBA makes a quality header and has no impact on the position of the dip stick.
Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Get a third opinion from a reputable mechanic. Don't tell them the past details as explained and let them give you their observations.
Dealer and Installer both will try to blame each other from this point.
JBA products may be quality, but not to say the installer may have hit the tube during install.
Oil leak started a couple of months after install of headers?????????
Hmmmmmmmmm.....................

If I can recall correctly, hasn't your EXT been at the dealer getting fixed for the past 3 months?
I know with many headers I had to remove the dip stick to get the headers in, I believe in all my C5 Corvette's this was true, or as said above the dip stick may have been damaged by hitting it with the headers Never installed JBA's because I always used long tube headers, believe they only make shorties. If it was me I would purchase the dip stick and "O" ring and have the people that installed the headers replace the dip stick, it's not a big deal to do. :)

Yes, it has been at the dealer for 3 months. Just got it back last week when I noticed the leak. I am meeting with Dealer mgmt today to discuss the issue. I'm not happy. After just spending $30K with the dealer putting everything back together to my standards, (after being stolen) I think the dealer is anxious to get it out of their shop and forgetting about customer service. I just can't believe they are trying to push this issue onto someone else. The kicker on this deal is when they put my EXT on the rack to look at the oil leak they scratched one of my brand new 26" rims. Ouch! They are going to eat that one. I will post pictures when I get it back for more than a day to take shots. People are already taking bets how long it will take before it gets stolen again! BTW-are you (or anyone) going to be at the DUB show this weekend?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look at this option as a backup. I've already called my header installer and he said that he would take care of things if the dealer wouldn't.
Some dealers probably would have fixed it, and other said what your dealership said, it's easy to hit when installing headers and some times you do not even know it. :)

No DUB show for me. Its been a while since I was going to those. I'm anxious to see the result of your EXT after 3 months. My best suggestion would be to just not park your EXT in any place out of sight and you will be fine. Going to the mall, movie theater, inside a restaurant, etc. They watch you go in knowing its going to be a while till you come back out. The last time I did that, I left mine for nearly 10 minutes on the side of a grocery store (no other parking), came back out and there had already been a car that parked aside me with a couple guys pulling multiple jacks and tools out of the trunk. I was surprised to see them and they were surprised to see me, but I was glad I came out at that time. And people were around so I'm sure thats the least of their worries. The good thing is you came back stronger after they took your ride, now don't let them take it again!!! :)

mount a siren under the dash from your alarm. Even if they open the doors or break in they will have to deal with the scream or the siren from the alarm in the cabin. Food for thought...
