Hi folks,

thought I went under, did you? Am going to fly down to Missouri to pick up my 1990 Brougham and drive it back home to New Jersey. 1200 miles following mapquest. But I will make it a good old road trip. Through Tennesse, see Nashville. Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive... Anyone of you guys out there in these areas?

Stop at diners, stay in small motels, just the way they did it a long time ago.

Will post pics when I'm back.

Sounds like a blast! Broughams are true road trip cars. Nice and comfy, and they look good rolling down the interstate to boot!

Have fun!

If you're gonna be staying out in the sticks or the the middle of Timbuktu, then keep a close eye on your new Caddy. Shady folks around cheap motels make me fear for my Caddy. Personally, I wouldn't stay anywhere without garage parking, but whatever you do, do not park or drive on gravel driveways where stray rocks ruin paint and windshields. I was on a gravel road once behind a Mustang at a stop sign; then shot off slinging rocks into my windshield with a nice bulls-eye right smack in the line of sight. Fortunately, that wasn't my Caddy, just an import.

Just be careful, but enjoy yourself!

By the way, you need to invest in a collar for the ignition lock. Those cars are real hot in some cities and are stolen in about 3 minutes. Collar is usually made of stainless steel, and it keeps guys from popping ignition switch.

Seriously.

Gee you guys are gonna ruin this poor guy's trip.

You could also stay in nice resorts with valet parking... also like they did a long time ago.

Whatever you do, don't let your milage go over 30K, you want to keep the value.

Just check all the fluids, brakes, and tires before you hit the road... then have fun!!

Hi Bob,

I am afraid that is not really going to be possible just by virtue of sheer mathmatics. And I am looking to drive it. There are enough out there for this one not to have to end up in a museum. I will drive it and enjoy it. Might have to sell it before it reaches 40, that is right, but then again not.

Also, my trip will be fine and I will not be afraid of anything happening to it, that's just what it is. I had cars worth a whole lot more, and brought them all home as well. So this one will be just fine.

Will let you know how it went.

kinda like all the ads you see in the classifieds and on ebay and stuff, when a car has 99,680 miles and the seller goes out of their way to really push the fact the car has "UNDER 100K MILES!!!!"

But.... have fun on your roadtrip! Sounds like a blast :)
