| View Full Version : 1979 Cadillac 10,062 miles, how much is it worth? Martyb2 09-24-07, 05:03 PM I have my granfather's 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with 10k original miles, everything works - excellent condition. I just don't know how much to ask... I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-24-07, 05:06 PM Based on just this, I'd say somewhere around $15,000. Martyb2 09-24-07, 06:11 PM What is the best way to market a Cadillac that is in this condition?...ebay was not real helpful Playdrv4me 09-24-07, 06:15 PM It depends on how good of condition its in I guess. Classic Car Trader would be a good place to put it. If it's in showroom condition you might even consider consigning it to an auction service, but youre talking the top 1 percent of all cars for something like that. Im not sure what you mean by "ebay was not real helpful"? Helpful with what? You just list it and let the bids come to you. Benzilla 09-24-07, 06:28 PM A member here called Highway Star bought a 1979 CDV with around 2,000 on it for 15k, I'd say like 10k for yours. more information would really help here. gdwriter 09-24-07, 07:07 PM According to the NADA Guide (http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1979&m=1032&d=262&c=14&vi=65086&z=97351&da=-1), the high retail value is just $4,150. There's no allowance given for the low miles. I've seen your car on eBay, and it's beautiful. I'd try an ad in Hemmings Motor News (http://www.hemmings.com) or Collector Car Trader (http://ww2.collectorcartrader.com/). You're more likely to get a better price and a buyer who will appreciate its condition. My_favorite_Brougham 09-24-07, 07:57 PM I've seen cars not half that nice go through the Barret-Jackson auctions. Send it there, and you'll get a pretty penny. z06bigbird 09-24-07, 09:48 PM Nice car. Nice miles. But not an Eldo vert or anything real special. Not meaning to insult you, but I am not sure you will have much luck above $6k or $7k. The Barret auction would be a good place to start. That is where people will pay crazy money. z06bigbird 09-24-07, 09:49 PM Keep us posted, by the way. z06bigbird 09-24-07, 09:52 PM CoPart auctions sold a 95 SDV with 10,000 miles or so to some Russian for about $9100. Needed a grill and a hood. White, one owner, doileys on front and rear armrests. Supposedly belonged to the retired Caddy dealer in Little Rock. It had been hijacked, and auction picked it up. A 2000 continental with 17,000 miles went for about the same price. Also went overseas. That one had no damage. Wheelman322 09-25-07, 12:13 AM Yeah...The buyer will dictate what the cars is worth. These cars don't have a strong following such as a 70 Chevelle with the same mileage. Ebay is a terrific market gauge but the market runs hot and cold. I listed an 84 CDV with 70,000 miles and the bids only hit $800 with my reserve not met....Two weeks later I listed the car again with no changes to the ad and I got $2600 for it. It's simply a matter of who's looking for that particular car right now. deVille33 09-29-07, 04:43 PM Ebay can be an education in auctioneering. There has been a CDV I bid on twice, but the underbidders didn't carry my bid high enough to reach reserve. The car didn't sell. Ebay dosen't want you to correspond with the bidders so you may have no way of knowing how high the upside may possibly be. delzy 09-30-07, 05:02 PM There has been a CDV I bid on twice, but the underbidders didn't carry my bid high enough to reach reserve. The car didn't sell. E I think you are missing how it works a little. If your bid exceeds the reserve, you won't need any "under-bidders" to push up the price. It will jump up to the sellers reserve and you will be the high bidder. What some people do is bid with an extra 0 on the end of your number to see where the reserve is and then retract your bid because you entered the wrong amount. This is really frowned upon and it will show in the item's bid history, but many get away with it. | |
