Well thanks guys for the comments. These cars fenders seem to bigger then I thought. I used the Eibach kit and took out the inner fender. Other than that no other mod's were done to make them work. The offset is a +38. I mean it is close however I drove it and we put it through several test to make sure it didn't rub or scrub. It even turns and makes u-turns well. I will be getting better pics today and posting them.

As for the comment of having your 30 sec's back. No one told YOU to click on a thread that says "I got 22's" sweetheart!

Oh, and I missed the "h" when I was typing. Shame on me for not proof reading. However, the saying is "to each his own" actually. ;)

Also, the poster that said..As long as "you" like them. Well you are right! I do like them and that's what matters. :) Thank you for being polite. heh

Why bother buying an import if you are going to take the heart out of it? I have seen several with that motor swap. Couldnt really hear the time, but it sounded like an 11 something. Like I said not sure though. Oh, and dont be fooled. I love my fwd baby but I can lay all four down if I so choose. ;) These little 4 cylinders run anywhere from 7s up to 18s..Guess it all depends on how you mod it. So the way I see it. No need to take away from the fact that its an import. If I wanted a V8 I would have bought one. Thats just me though.

CTSgirlie
09-24-07, 03:03 PM
Oh dear God..Do you REALLY think I jacked up the rear? Its called lowering the front with much stiffer struts and spring, and only stiffening up the rear. Not to mention when you remove around 500 lbs of unneeded weight. That tends to happen. However, if I can pull off low 1.6 60s in it. Then I guess its working. ;)

I have never seen a car, including FWD cars, with the front end slammed and the rear "jacked" at the track or on the street. Oh wait, I do see people on the street with that set up but they are KNOWINGLY poking fun at themselves.

But thumbs up to you for those 60 foot times:thumbsup: You proved a good point, the car doesn't have to look good at all, it's all about who crosses the finish line first.

ok i'm gonna get bashed for thsi also because i have "oh my gosh" a V... and i'm posting in the CTS forum

but, i think you might be able to do a little better in the 60' if you took a little more spring rate out of the front rather then continually raising the rear

i was pulling 1.4x 60's in a GTI that had way way way less power than what you're making with that 4g63

but what do i know

1.6's are badass... but you can alwasy do better, just posting what helped me

~Note..My comments in this post only refer to a fwd vehicle. So no need to explain how rwd, awd etc. works.

Thanks, Wendy

Wow...1.4? That's pretty amazing. I would LOVE for you to tell me your trick for traction. Are you sure you didn't mean a 2.4? (Not trying to be funny) Now think about this, and I am in NO way making excuses. You are fighting power vs traction. So the MORE power you have. The less traction you are going to have. So yes you are right. With a good driver a basically stock car is going to have a better 60' automatically. Because they aren't having to fight wheel spin. Now a 1.4 better? I personally have never seen a stock car do it. I have only seen 8 and 9 and a hand full of 10 sec. cars (1/4 mile) cut those kind of 60's. I spin 1st -3rd and still cut low 1.6s. So I am sure if I didn't have that spin I would be much lower. Hell in my awd the best I could cut is a 1.56

Oh and I really don't want to see this thread gets out of hand. Also, I am in no way mad, or upset. I actually enjoy a good conversation. So please don't take my post out of context.

Are you saying a stock car will have better 60 foot times than a modified car?

And you think you have no control over the concept that MORE power = LESS traction. If you know how to plant the power CORRECTLY (i.e. suspension), you theory doesn't hold true. Trust me, when it comes to a stock version VS. a modified version of the same car, the modified SHOULD have better times. But that's only if the person who setup the car KNOWS how to put the power to the pavement:thumbsup: Oh just to clear things up I'm not mad or upset either, especially since I'm laughing too hard.

CTSgirlie
09-24-07, 05:01 PM
Lets see....Slicks, Lowered spings in the front with struts set to full soft. Limited slip, prothane mounts, rear springs and struts set to full stiff. Set to 8 on the AGX's to be exact. etc. However, you are right..I have NO idea how to set up my car. Nor am I the fastest fwd DSM 16g non spraying turbo record holder. So you win! heh

Oh, and still not mad... laughing to hard about that 1.4 60 to be mad. :P

CTSgirlie
09-24-07, 05:14 PM
Ok...Since I am having a hard time explaining what I am trying to say. Let's give this scenario.

A 200 hp street car on street tires vs a 500 hp street car on street tires. The 200hp car is going to get better traction any day. Do to wheel spin on the higher hp car. Get it? Hence the reason I don't run stock suspension or street tires.

You're a racer and put those rims on your caddy? I question that move but like you said to each his/her own. I went with 20's strictly for a racier look. I'm in love with the competitive allure of the CTS body(much like a womans). I'm a racer through and through but I still hate to see a caddy taken to extremes without retaining the class the Cadillac deserves.

Did you say you took out your inner fender wells? For real? If I am understanding you right you removed your inner fender wells to fit rims on the car? I don't even know what to say to this idea. It is very rare that I am at a loss for words.

All this talk about big wheels this and big wheels that. Thank god he doesn't do the other things! This place just sounds like the honda boards now. Wheel fitment issues, rubbing issues, lowering, etc. etc. Its all the same. I've known RB for a while now, he and I get along just fine and he knows I'm going to give him a hard time... he'd probably be worried if I didn't.

I switch between the stock 17's for winter and the 20's the rest of the season. Granted they are not 22's, but as far as pot holes go I haven't seen a difference. I dented a 17 in a fairly large one a year ago, but feel like I've hit ones just as big with the 20's and was ok. I did bubble a tire once, but now my new ones are under warranty for that. Maybe TIS are just really well made but I fully believe that if I hit something big enough it's going to dent either one of them.

I drive mostly on DC, VA, MD roads which aren't great but I also travel through the backwoods on Pennsylvania to go back home to Buffalo frequently and neither Pennsylvania or Western NY have great roads. I also hit a huge one over the GW bridge on my way to Connecticut the other week with the 20's and everything was ok. It was something I worried about before I actually had experienced them.

hey CTSgirlie, did you do an upgrade on the brakes on your cts for the 22's? or do you even have a problem with excess wear on brake pads with the 22's? i was thinking about putting 22's on a deville but didn't have the money to put brakes on too...

The brakes are not upgraded. I spoke with other members and they have stated that it was a waste of money. They did it primarily for looks due to open wheels. The brakes feel great. I do not follow close to other cars so I do not have to brake hard. IMO, you will be fine without the upgrade.:2thumbs:
