I've heard the 425 crank hp rating is hogwash ... it's much higher! :yup: There's a polished maggie on eBay right now. urbanski 09-20-07, 08:44 PM str8 threads in V = :nono: 1QUICKV 09-20-07, 09:37 PM i just raced an srt 8 bently =) last night i had a fender on him the whole way!(twice) i've raced a charger and same thing. Those cars are heavy. Their a ton of shit. VCAT 09-20-07, 10:04 PM thanks for the info, i did race a r/t charger and pulled easily away from them so figured i would ask about the srt being much more powerful. GMBOUND 09-20-07, 10:06 PM Beaten All three. SRT-8 300, SRT8 Jeep, R/T Charger. All from a Dig, and finished off the deal after 3rd gear. fritz269 09-20-07, 11:32 PM For what it's worth, Car and Driver clocked the SRT8 faster. They do note the axle tramp issues on launch and think they could knock 1/2 sec off the 0-60, but were afraid of destroying the rear end (if only they knew.) That make it close enough that if the V driver knew how to hook and the srt8 driver didn't, the V could pull it off; but I wouldn't be racing for pinks. I've never run head-to-head, but I have driven an srt8 and it's a lot less fun than the V. Even if it has the top-end, it's missing the midrange torque (or at least feels like it), not to mention the handling. I assume that the difference in the top-gear speed numbers is that the automatic srt8 is allowed a kick-down, while the V is stuck in 6th... http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/9479/chrysler-300c-srt8-page4.html (http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/9479/chrysler-300c-srt8-page4.html) ACCELERATION Seconds Zero to 30 mph: 1.9 40 mph: 2.7 50 mph: 3.6 60 mph: 4.7 70 mph: 5.9 80 mph: 7.4 90 mph: 9.2 100 mph: 11.2 110 mph: 13.3 120 mph: 15.9 130 mph: 20.0 140 mph: 24.7 150 mph: 30.7 Street start, 5-60 mph: 4.9 Top-gear acceleration, 30-50 mph: 2.7 50-70 mph: 3.0 Standing 1/4-mile: 13.2 sec @ 109 mph Top speed (redline limited): 173 mph http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/7780/cadillac-cts-v-page6.html (http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/7780/cadillac-cts-v-page6.html) ACCELERATION: Seconds Zero to 30 mph: 2.2 40 mph: 2.9 50 mph: 4.3 60 mph: 5.2 70 mph: 6.8 80 mph: 8.2 90 mph: 9.9 100 mph: 12.2 110 mph: 14.5 120 mph: 17.1 130 mph: 20.3 140 mph: 25.5 Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.7 Top-gear acceleration, 30-50 mph: 10.3 50-70 mph: 10.0 Standing 1/4-mile: 13.7 sec @ 107 mph Top speed (drag limited): 163 mph Koooop 09-21-07, 12:16 AM I've run head to head from a stop light with a SRT Charger and and SRT 300. I took and kept a fender on both. Now if either had stalled their torque converter it may have been a different story. 1QUICKV 09-21-07, 03:08 AM the numbers above i think should be fliped. and on this note the BMW 335 is a quick little car! it keeps up. Off the line it's got me, but from a roll i pull more in each gear. it would say with us on the hi-way. That car is quick. It's time for me t trade in for something fast..... so lets see, my brother has an 07 zo6 and i got to be faster then that so..... SLPR 6.0L 09-23-07, 07:33 PM One ranat Gateway the race before me. Hot and humid. We both had new car plates on. My shifter was broke (Broke on teh way to the track and replaced a couple days later). I ran 14.03, he ran 14.10. I could put the car in gear and stir the stick in a circle about 4 or 5 intches in diameter, otherwise I would have tried to line up wth him. The guy was a cocky fXXX, would have been fun to have beat him. From what I hear, they dont respond to mods like our cars do. CVP33 10-14-07, 10:12 AM Many of the SRT8's have been hitting 12.9x's to 13.2x's in the quarter mile but now we have a new toy. Diablosport just released their handheld tuner Predator. We can now change, well just about everything. I already have a tuned PCM and have hit a best of 12.94. Guys are getting 3 to 4 tenths off their times with the Predator. We had two guys go out this weekend with CAI's and exhaust only; one hit 12.68 at my local track (Richmond) and the other hit 12.70 in Illinois. Pretty stout times for just tuner, CAI and exhaust. With drag radials these guys would be hitting 12.4x's. Too bad our half shafts wouldn't be able to handle it. Just be on the look out. :lildevil: StealthCTSVJJL 10-14-07, 04:29 PM Have run a 300 SRT8 on the hiway, from third about 75 to 125, pretty much even, I walked him a little in fourth. I have a stock car with exhaust only. Should mention we nailed it at the same time so no momentum advantage. I am waiting for my Maggie, which I am sure will make it no contest. CVP33 10-14-07, 07:21 PM 75mph is a dead zone for the auto sticked SRT-8's. We love 25mph rolls, 60mph and 80mph. All the tweener speeds and the car will just lug. No tuner will help with that. I totally destroyed an older Cobra Mustang from a 60mph roll, twice. He got so pissed he sped off at 120mph plus weaving through traffic, something I refuse to do. About 5 miles up the road, me and my buddy saw him pulled over. In VA, anything over 100mph is BIG trouble. CVP33 10-14-07, 10:25 PM Another new Diablosport tuned best time! 12.56 @ 113.47mph. Sweet geezus! http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=85100 CVP33 10-17-07, 10:47 PM Here's one for yah.......0 to 170mph! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od6mHt1bHmI Koooop 10-18-07, 01:03 AM Great line up of posts, seems like you're the lonely one speaking here. :blah: LOL :zing: Lord Cadillac 10-18-07, 05:59 PM It IS impressive how fast these things are... CVP33 10-18-07, 08:38 PM It IS impressive how fast these things are... We affectionately call them flying bricks. Which they are. :D Cadillacboy 10-19-07, 03:20 PM flying bricks ? lol :D CVP33 10-21-07, 01:22 AM New top speed is 178mph with Diablosport removing the limiter. I'd bet the CTS-V is faster. 6 speed vs. 5 speed, plus better aero. | |
