Does anyone know when the DTS will undergo a body style change? I love the look of the 2008 STS, but have heard this will be discontinued in a couple of years. Plus due to my height, I need the size of the DTS.

Just curious if they will make the new DTS look like the STS?

Your thoughts please

The DTS (and STS) is dead. News released today. Both cars will hang around for a while until a 2010/2011 full size RWD replacement is available.

2009

Cadillac BLS: Bob Lutz himself has said that the currently Europe-only BLS will come to America when it is redesigned. A wagon version may follow. The BLS will be based on the Epsilon II platform which will offer GM a variety of body styles and configurations. We could see the BLS on sale here in 2010.

Cadillac CTS: Coupe, convertible, and wagon versions of the new CTS will arrive in 2009.

Cadillac CTS-V: We've already seen spy shots of the next CTS-V. What powertrain the CTS-V is actually sporting is still a mystery, but we speculate that it will have either a Supercharged DOHC V8, or an all new Small-Block V8. Nonetheless, it is a fact that the car will have over 500 HP.

Cadillac DTS: Like it's Buick cousin, the DTS gets a slight revisit as well as the 3.6L direct-injected HF V6 and 6-speed automatic.

Cadillac SRX: The SRX will be discontinued sometime around 2009-10. Cadillac is considering replacing it with a Lambda crossover.

2010

Cadillac BRX: The BRX has been confirmed. It will ride on a new premium version of the Theta II platform and be a combination of the Epsilon II and Theta II platforms. Power will come from both the 2.8L HF V6 and the 3.6L HF V6. If gas prices remain high in the US, GM will also sell a 1.9L diesel BRX, otherwise the diesel will be for Europe only.

Cadillac CTS: Coupe/convertible and wagon models of the CTS are said to go on-sale in early to mid 2009 as 2010 models. The wagon is suppose to have quite a high-style look to it.

Cadillac Kappa: Caddy is planning a Kappa-based two-seater to compete with the likes of the BMW Z4. It is expected sometime in 2009.

Cadillac XTS: Cadillac will continue to work on its goal to become the leader in luxury by entering the ultra luxury car market. Known as the “ULS,” it will probably be built on the Sigma II platform. This was going to arrive sometime in 2008, but because of the current financial situation, the program is on the back burner. Although it's far from being confirmed, GM is working on a 7.5L DOHC V12 powertrain that Caddy will likely use. There is also a Turbocharged version of the V12 in the works.

2011

Cadillac BLS: Cadillac executives are wanting a true 3-series competitor bad. So instead of keeping the currently Europe-only BLS on as a front-driver, they will be moving it to the new Alpha small RWD platform for the 2012 model-year and bring it to the US. Power will come from a buffet of HF V6's--including a possible turbo 3.6L. A diesel variant is also expected.

Cadillac CTS: For the 2011 model-year Cadillac is suppose to launch a diesel CTS in the US. An all-new CTS is expected for the 2013 model-year.

The CTS convertible is NOT yet approved for production.

Niether the Lucerne or DTS will get any kind of major enhancement before they die in about 2 years. I would also highly doubt that GM would spend the money necessary to fit the 6 speed FWD transmission to these cars for such a short life span. The Lucerne already has a V6 and I doubt Cadillac wants one in the DTS.

Cadillac is NOT considering a Lamda platform vehicle. The SRX will die after next year, yes. Its replacement is a comination of Theta and Epsilon platforms. Saab will also have a version.

If there is a Kappa Cadillac, it is not coming as soon as 2009.
