Here's a strange one, but just a quick question to ask you late-body Seville owners-
Do your tailpipes sway left to right? And if they do, how much sway do you have? I had a friend of mine follow my car the other day, and he remarked that my tailpipes were swaying back and forth as I drove. Not all the time, but on bumps and hard turns. I checked by hand, and my pipes sway about an inch both ways. I did a visual inspection, and everything seemed ok, and the FSM states that some sway's normal.
But I want to know how much 'some sway' is. I think mine may be excessive.
So if you guys could, check out your sway!

Personally Id try and mount it down better.. IF some mounts are loose, make some new ones... Its only putting stress on the pipes...
Did you get underneath the car? It sounds like you may have lost one of the rubber "0" ring mounts. If so just get another and slip it on.
Check carefully one may actually still look in place, but be broken. Pull on each "0" ring to test it.
I would avoid making the exhaust system tight to the body. The firmer the connection, the more noise and vibration is transmitted to the occupants.

Sometimes those "O" rings get strecthed loose and sloppy too. Might try new ones.

Ok, today I checked under the car real quick to see if there were any problems. Bolts were tight, both rubber hangers were there. Bolts were good and tight.
So maybe new hangers might be my best bet?
Thanks for the help guys. (=
PS... can anyone just head out to their STS and swing their exhaust by hand real quick- just to see? THANKS! (=

I checked mine out. Very little swing at all. I have the Corsa exhaust, but it still uses the stock O rings. My car has 26K on it, and like I said, very little movement. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe there was also an O ring mount up near the cat. converter too (correct me if I'm wrong). Don't forget to check that one. Good luck.

BOTH rubber rings were alright? I believe that there are FOUR rubber rings.
Two at the end of the catalytic converter and one at each tail pipe tip.

I just went out and checked both exhaust tips. Almost no side movement. They are original stock 1997 STS.
