I've posted in the past about the various issues I've had with my '03 CTS. I hit a new one today. My cruise control On/Off switch seems to be broken. When I push the button in, the indicator light comes on. When I release the button, I hear two clicks and the light goes off. If I hold the button in (light on), I can set the cruise. If I release the button at this point, light goes out and no cruise. I'm guessing that the power button works like a ball-point pen - push in and release, button comes about halfway out and stops - cruise is on (pen can write). Push and release again, button comes all the way out - cruise is off (pen is retracted).

Can anyone confirm my guess about cruise control on/off operation? Also, any estimates on repairs - is this a possible DIY or will a dealer need a day to diagnose, then a couple of weeks to get parts, then a couple days to repair? I can do without for a short while, I suppose; but let's just say that my skills at maintaining a constant highway speed weren't in great evidence all those winters ago when I took drivers' ed, and I havn't gotten any better.

I'm beginning to think I've got a car from the low end of the curve. I'd consider replacing it, but I don't really like many of the changes to the '08 and I suspect a used one with the options and colors I want will be difficult to find. Besides, when everything's working, I love this car.
