I've been looking for a new toy, and my funshop had their grand opening in their new building today so this was the right time. I should've taken pics of their new shop...it was awesome. Any way I picked up the KelTec PLR 16 which is "technically" a handgun. The beauty there is I can carry it using my concealed handgun license.

As you can see it has the optional foreward handguard and muzzle break already installed:

The best part about this little "handgun" is:

....yeah, that's you're standard usgi Ar 15 magazine poking out the bottom. :bouncy: It's a 5.56/223 caliber handgun. Now I have to figure out how to conceal this thing on my person. ;)

And Spyder, I'm about to order an EOthingy to go on top of it. :yup:

You suck.

Is it chambered for .223 or 5.56? I made damned good and sure when I bought my DPMS upper that I got the 5.56 one. The guy next to me at the big show in Reno was trying to talk me into the .223 one, for whatever reason, but I've heard some stories about firing milspec ammo in civilian (.223) chambers.

That is pretty damned cool though. How's the recoil without a buffer? I bet its a kick in the ass, eh...

THere are tons of vids on youtube of people firing this thing...I'll look up a couple and post them. Without the buffer it can be a wild ride, but I've read over and over that the muzzle break is wel designed and makes a huge difference in muzzle flip. This thing can fire 5.56 or 223 so I'm good to go with whatever.

I actually just picked up a new Doublestar (off-list, CA-compliant) lower. I'm going to build it, eventually, like, in a year or two, into a 6.5 Grendel, methinks. Unless I find a different, flatter shooting, 1000yd sub-moa caliber that is as cheap to build and that I can get cheap practice ammo for...(Wolf now makes brass cased 6.5 grendel)

Range reports are needed on the kel-tec!!!

THat's one big Em-Effing "handgun". I wonder can you actually fire it one-handed with any accuracy?

I've fired the T/C Encore in a couple hot calibers (25-06 Rem & 7mm-08 Rem), but this would be a more useful weapon.

You wouldn't be all that impressed.

I've ordered an Eotech 512 for this thing. And I think I'm going to put a Streamlight TLR 2, a flashlight with integrated laser, on this thing.

I'm actually curious too...I'll show you my pokemon if I can have a pikachu!

And you're putting an Eothingy on a pistol? WTF? Damnitt, I still haven't figured out what optics to put on my 5.56 or my fifty. Plus, every time I get extra cash I buy car parts or a new rifle, instead of optics.

Ha, I've put a new rule in house for myself and my spending. Any money I spend on gun stuff I have to spend equal money on the Challenger...and before I buy any new guns I have to buy a new safe. Mine is too crowded and NOT fireproof. That needs to get fixed, and quick! :)

So how much does this thing cost?

$590

CDNN has them wholesale priced @ $479 IIRC. Kel Tec sells the handguard for $47, the break for $26, and the charging handle for $21. With the installed options that brings the value to about $570 so I figured for $590 I didn't do too bad. Approximately half the cost of your average AR pistol.
