View Full Version : 2006 STS / STS-V Information BeelzeBob 04-13-04, 11:03 PM This was originally posted at GMInsideNews.com
From the lips of Marc LeNeve:
STS-V - Supercharged 4.6L V-8 - 430hp
Hydra-Matic 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive 5th gear and electronically controlled shifts with driver shift control.
Improved spoiler with a higher tilt degree. Spoiler will be integrated more than the add-on Spoiler.
3rd brake light integrated into spoiler.
STS Information
W/O tack-on spoiler (Marc LeNeve hates the Spoiler)
Top Speed Electronically limited to 130MPH
With tack-on spoiler
Top Speed Electronically limited to 155MPH
**Apparently the STS was getting lifted from the back without a spoiler, so they needed to give it a spoiler to keep it on the ground. To quote Marc "...that's how powerful this car is..."**
0-60 in under 6 Seconds!! (Probably the RWD V8, but no specifics were mentioned)
STS may be getting a V-10 or V-12 later on down the road The '05 STS with the 3.45 gear and the V8 already will 0-60 in 5.8 secs. peccles 04-16-04, 04:03 PM The 6 speed automatics still won't be ready for the '06 MY? ljklaiber 04-16-04, 04:34 PM Thanks Sal!
This is essentaially what I am hearing from friends in Detroit. Saving my time and money for this . At age 63, it wil be my 'Last Rodeo'....LOL Pimpin_Whity 04-29-04, 04:44 PM sweet, always wanted them to make a car with a supercharged N* BeelzeBob 05-01-04, 07:46 AM The '05 STS with the 3.45 gear and the V8 already will 0-60 in 5.8 secs.
I wasn't giving the 0-60 time for the STS-V... BeelzeBob 05-19-04, 02:05 PM I know nothing......
http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=7134 this is one car that has definitely peaked my interest. if the price is reasonable, like a 10k premium over the regular sts, then it might have my name on it. I know nothing......

Yeah.....right!! And Lee Iacoaca knew nothing about sporty Pintos. Interesting media speculation tho! BeelzeBob 05-19-04, 04:20 PM Well. Here are the images from that link... frank78 05-20-04, 05:46 PM hello will the 2006 sts-v have a mesh grill like the cts-v----------- gothicaleigh 05-20-04, 06:54 PM I would say yes.
The mesh grill is going to be a V-series trademark. The gaping hole on the test car shows that they are testing with full airflow through there too... Slick V 05-20-04, 08:30 PM If they had the mesh grill on there, they might as well have not bothered putting on all the camo, because the grill would be a dead give away to it being a V Vesicant 05-20-04, 09:12 PM Anyone notice how wide the rear wheel well's get on the second picture? (its kind of masked with cammo)
Beef! :D SoundAdvantage 05-21-04, 01:55 AM This is just my opinion, Not meant to offend anyone but this STS does absolutly nothing for me. Just being honest thats all.
The CTS-V on the other hand > gives me an erection :D and thats the Truth. SoundAdvantage 05-25-04, 01:41 AM Let me Correct myself about the STS  I was too quick to judge this fine Cadillac. After looking at some other pics of these cars in different colors and angles, They begin to apeal to me :) This car has to "grow on you" as far as it's looks are concerned, and as we all know beauty is only skin deep so without actually driving this car it wouldn't be fair to make a final decision based on looks alone. '06 STS-V is scheduled to launch in Sept. 2005. thanks for the info, any other tidbits you want to share please feel free :) M STaR 013 06-26-04, 09:53 PM dang, only 430 horsepower. yeah, that's still very good, but i thought it would be a little higher so it can compete with the next BMW M5. they are planning on 500hp. eh, it's not always about horsepower though. i guess we will just wait and see how the two match up. kippjones 07-09-04, 03:29 AM Look is a bit too busy for me... anyone notice the hump in the hood to clear the SC dang, only 430 horsepower. yeah, that's still very good, but i thought it would be a little higher so it can compete with the next BMW M5. they are planning on 500hp. eh, it's not always about horsepower though. i guess we will just wait and see how the two match up.
Your more than right they need more than just a supercharger in that thing. They need to make a 40V Northstar V-10 and then supercharge it. illumina 07-13-04, 11:42 PM i heard that the BMW v-10 will be turning less than 400 lbs.ft. right? i think that the roots style supercharger on the n* will match the 430 hp with close to 430 lbs.ft.maybe a little more. i think that will be good enough to take the new m5 head-on in a drag race. caddydaddy 07-14-04, 01:25 PM I saw an ad in the paper for the upcoming STS-V and it said it had a twin-turbo 450 HP engine. Anyone know more about that??? |
