My 2002 Deville won't release trunk or fuel door after I disconected my valet switch during a dvd install in glove box. I reconected the switch and neither would work. I tested the switch, short in off, open in on. I even tried disconecting the battery, still broke. Please help dealer sez I voided warranty cause I messed with it! Thanks-Black Deville

Did you check the fuse? It should be the same one for both the fuel door and the trunk release. Also have you checked for any codes?

Fuse is good. I tried to check for codes, the only code was irc 1016. I checked the code lists but couldn't find my code. Thanks alot-Black Deville

I believe that means there's a loss of communications. If you don't have one, pick up a shop manual and you may be able to trace the problem. If not, it looks like you may have to bite the bullet and let the dealer fix it. They'll probably have to hook it up to a Tech 2 scanner.
