2000 STS

Does anyone know how to remove the DEAD PEDAL?
I need to pull the carpet back to dry due to a leak.
The FSM does not include the Dead Pedal in Vol. 3
Front carpet removal instructions.
The pedal is installed over the carpet with no visible means of attachment.
I've tried pulling it...pushing it...sliding it...

I do not have FSM Vols 1 and 2.

This might be covered in Vol. 1 under parking brake.
Please post if you have access to FSM Vol 1 (1998-2004).
Any information you can provide will help.

...Remove the black foot rest cover by prying up and releasing the clips.
There are two 7mm bolts holding the pedal to the floorboard.
