What size is the OE Astro roof in a Brougham? Did they come in different sizes in different years? I am thinking of putting one in my 81 Coupe. Alternatively, I am considering the 44" moonroof out of Lincolns. They look great on a coupe with the Brougham vinyl top. Anyone done an install on a car that didn't have a moonroof to start? Any advice appreciated!
Here's one with a 44":
And here's a factory Astro in an 80 FWB sedan:

Well, it looks like I am going to talk to myself on this thread... lol
Anyways, just got back from the yard. They have an 89 FWB D'Elegance that just came in. LOADED, with... drumroll...Factory Astroroof. Exact same as the one in the pic above. I'm getting it on Monday. I am going to get the complete roof, glass, frame, headliner, drains, wiring, switch, etc, etc. Should turn out nice. Oh, 150 bucks, btw:thumbsup:
The 44 looks cool, but I think I should keep my 81 OE Caddy.
They have an Eldo with a 425, too...

the one in the coupe just looks to dominate the car rather than accent the look

Just uploaded my phone pics from the junkyard. Here's the Astro that I'm going to grab:

That Lincoln roof looks pretty good to me. The factory roof is plenty good too. Hard to tell exactly which year the car in the pic is. The color looks like Sandstone which was discontinued after 1980. Dunno if they even put factory moonroofs in 1980 Brougham Coupes.
You could really hurt your spine trying to moon someone through that hole in the roof.
The thing about the moonroof is how the interior of the car looks with a little illumination. If you have a light colored leather gut and a little sunshine through the roof glass the inside of the car really lights up nicely. Got any more pix like that?

I got that from over on the lowrider forum. I'll see what else I can find.
So, does anyone know exactly what I am going to have to do to the roof of my 81 to get the Astro in? Is is just cutting the hole and dropping in a trim ring, or do I have to weld in a section from the donor car? I am getting conflicting info. I guess I'll know for sure when I go back to the yard and take it out...
