I recently purchased a very clean '99 Escalade. Whilst cleaning it yesterday, I noticed that there appears to be a rubberized type coating covering the center console and the door panels. This became apparent when I noticed it starting to peel at one area. My question is, was this a factory coating to give the vehicle a more “up market” feel or is this simply a coating that has been sprayed on at a later date to refresh the interior?

If factory does anyone know where to get this coating as I’m going to have to do a repair at some stage?
Thanks for your help

I had a '99 Escalade for 3 years, and have owned my current '00 Escalade for 4+ years--never noticed anything like that.

You can respray it with a vinyl dye...but best results if you sand it nicely first. Try colorbond.com for a match...
