Sorry guys, but the new A5 turbo diesel can smoke the current CTS. It has a 5,9 on the 0-60. How about that?

I see some people are intimidated? The A5 is about the same size as the CTS and only 200 pounds lighter. IMO it is the first turbo diesel that I know of that can put that diesel torque into serious speed.

You are still more than .1 short Nick. Plus the 5,9 is for 0-100 km/h and that is 62.1 Mph. Hehe
Plus it is the listed time, so you could improve that in reality.

i thought the list times were FASTER than the actual times normal people get? (normal as in, NOT pro drivers)

VERY impressive! And I don't know much, so I wrote 'that I know of' :D Thanks for the enlightment ;)

It is modded though and the A5 comes like that. Imagine modding the A5.

Oh, before you think I am all pro-Audi; forget it! But I was imtimidated!
Same thing when I was passed by an Audi S6 combi with V10...

Thats actually not that impressive. There are so many diesel pickups in the 11's. I previously had a F250 PSD with chip, injectors, dual 5", intake, propane injection, triple plate, etc... I would embarrass my dad in his vette, it was sad.

Fastest pickup in the world is a diesel.

www.bankspower.com Somewhere on this site is video of their world record breaking 220 mph Dodge Ram Cummins diesel. Yea, 220 mph.

Awesome vid! I love how much smoke pours out of the exhaust upon WOT.

How much money did it cost you to get it to that level?

How much money did it cost you to get it to that level?More then I care to admit. Originally I spent about 8K on mods and that made the truck an absolute beast in a straight line. But the tranny, etc couldn't handle that. It started slipping really bad in the 1st and 2nd gears. I also had a bunch of turbo problems. Numerous sensor failures, etc. An F250 PSD is not a cost-effective choice for going fast, and it shouldn't be, either. It's much too heavy and big. But it was for pulling trailor, so there was point to the madness.

Brakes weren't cheap either. The brakes for the F250 cost more then the sum of the parts on my CTS.

Wow, thanks for the advice. I had given a brief thought into going down the "modded turbo 3/4 ton" truck realm, but now I don't think I will. On a related note, in the September issue of Car and Driver, they do a quick test on the '08 Super Duty (F-350 iirc) King Ranch Crew Cab with the Powerstroke...very impressive power indeed. It was just over 8000 lbs (I had to read that twice lol), and with the new Powerstroke, it did 0-60 in 8.6 and the 1/4 mile in 16.7 seconds. Numbers that typicially aren't that great, but considering the sheer weight of that beast, quite impressive indeed!

IIRC, my truck was quoted at about 19 sec 1/4 mile, stock.

Are you still thinking about getting something with the L67?

Wow, 19 seconds isn't very good at all, especially considering the power made by a turbo diesel. I wanna see what a Duramax is good for in the 1/4, whether it be the original version, or the revised '06 version.

To answer your second question, no not really.
