View Full Version : Oh, God HELP! I NEED SOME HELP I keep seeing a several of the SAME car a couple times a week. I've seen a dark blue, a white & 2 bright reds. I am in love ! Unless it costs a bundle, I want one. But....for the 1st time in 50 years, I don't know what the heck kinda car it is.
Okay. It's a convertible, It's kinda small, but not REAL small. It looks like a dead ringer for a Jaguar XJ convert. I think it's a 2-seater. Not positive.
It has the identical front end - minus the louvers in the hood of a Jag XJ. It has almost identical sides to the XJ, but the back is similiar to a Jag X-type. It has a wide bar of chrome up high where the back meets the flat top of the deck lid and it's slightly curved like an ark. It goes from tailamps to the other tailamp, and splits & encircles each lamp. It's much much smaller than a Jag XJ. It's larger than a Miata - it's like the size of the last generation Camaro.
I've gone to kbb.com and then onto "convertibles" and looked at every one. It's not there. I've checked Aston Martin, Nope, not that, and Miata and WVs and every convertible on KBB. I think it's new, as I had never seen one before mid June. Everytime I see one it's going fairly fast, in the oppisite direction than I am going, and it seems to have no I.D. on any of them, but I always ee them moving so it maybe be small and discrete.
The tops are always down - so I do not know what kinda shape the back window is - but, it's definately a Jag knock-off all the way around.
Nobodies gonna guess that it's anything but a Jag.
Any ideas? Anyone see anything that looks like what I described ?? HELP!
Sandy I think its the new Daewoo.
Sandy, what's wrong with you?!
:D:p:D Playdrv4me 07-15-07, 07:30 PM current or previous gen xj? I~LUV~Caddys8792 07-15-07, 07:32 PM Maybe that new Maserati convertible?
Otherwise, I suppose if you looked around on Dupont Registry for long enough you might find it. I hope it's not the new Bentley!

http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/images/Aero%20front%20screen%20600.jpg Yea, I was thinking the XK, but he seems to think it isn't a Jag...and all the pictures I found of the XK have the hood louvers, which his doesn't... Nope. None of those. It looks the most like that new Jag, but it's definately smaller and has the oval grille like that, but not the mesh-work, instead a single thin bar all the way across, with a small circle in the middle, where the Jag pictured has a much larger round emblem. The side has a slight dip in the top of the door, like where you put your elbow, similiar to the Avanti - No, it's not an Avanti Convertible, either. The back end is a mix of a Saturn Sky & and a Jag X-Type. The whole of the parts is drop-dead georgous.
DuPont Registry is a great idea. Maybe an Aston Martin Vanquish? Or DB9? That Jag looks almost exact to it. No No, definately not. Not the trrademark Aston grille and ALOT small in size. I'd say 15% smaller. Or Aston Martin V8 Vantage?

My God Astin has some beautiful cars  I got to see a Vanquish S today! Made my day! Holy crap...that Vanquish S is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccceeee... No No, definately not. Not the trrademark Aston grille and ALOT small in size. I'd say 15% smaller.
Hmmm... I'm out of ideas then... Holy crap...that Vanquish S is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccceeee...
Ain't it? I'd give up sex forever for that thing... Well... that kind of defeats the whole purpose... ok I'll have to think of something else to give up forever besides sex and my soul of course... haha! I~LUV~Caddys8792 07-16-07, 01:29 AM Panoz Esperante?

It's hard to find pictures of the 2007 model. Older XK8's had the emblem above the grille rather than in it. The one with the vents on the hood and different front bumper is the XKR. That Jag XK8 looks identical in the front. The sides I am not sure on, and that is definately NOT the back ! It has a totally different back. Next time I see one, I am giving chase. I am beginning to think it's a kit-carbased upon a Ford Focus or similiar small car.
Only thing different in front is that the circular emblem in the grille of the Jag is much larger. This unknown car's circular emblem is the size of a quarter. RunningOnEMT 07-16-07, 09:17 AM might be a kit car of some sort... Maybe that new Maserati convertible?
A GranSport Spyder (http://www.maserati.com/jsp/ccMy06_gss/esterni.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0369509186.1184591315 @@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccaddlhidimmhcefeceegdgimdfmk.0). :D Playdrv4me 07-16-07, 02:57 PM I would agree on the kit car thing except youve seen so many of them in such a short period of time that seems unlikely. I~LUV~Caddys8792 07-16-07, 03:11 PM Maybe it's a mule tester for an up and coming convertible? It's this:--

But with a new Saturn Sky back end, which I'll post here if & when I can find a good picture of it.
However, it is considerably smaller than the Jag pictured here. It's like the size of a Cadillac CTS. Visually smaller than the Jag. (and) There is NO black mesh in the grille opening and the circular disc's center
is green (which made me think Lotus - but it's not a Lotus). There is no side fender marker light, but they probably are made here in the USA, whatever the heck it is. I was out before and lOOOOking for it, so of course none were around. | |
