Trying to help a friend out with his 07 cts-v. Today on a hard launch whenever there's wheel spin the car has trans fluid leaking.
Anyone else experience this ?
I'm wondering if it's the trans or the differential. Although the rear tire pressure was lowered out of the 5 runs he had issues making the car hook. That's when the track officials saw the fluid leaking.
just a note here, I also have an 07 V with 6k miles on it, the car currently is in the shop again for trans problems and they have rebuilt the transmission twice now in the car and also replaced the rear differential vent tube with an updated version because of leakage. and I dont even run the car hard as the short time ive been actually able to drive the car its been on the highway on a couple of trips. I hope this isnt a sign of a weakness in the 07.....
just got my car back from the dealership and they replaced the vent hose with a new and udated version on the rearend,,,,hopefully thats your problem as well..
tell your friend that the only trans leaks I have heard of around here are from the tailshaft seal. it's probably your friend's differential leaking. was it leaking shards of metal by any chance?
UPDATE - car was fixed this am.. Leaking differential seal.
