Hey guys, I thought my carb was running kind of off so I took it apart. One of the metering rods was bent. The bent rod # was 49B. the other rod # was 47B. I would like to replace both rods and jets but do not know what size to put back. The carb # is 7041230. Is this carb supposed to have a retainer clip for the power piston? Can't figure how one rod got bent.

No idea about the rod.

I have a good carb that I took out of my 71 eldo, it's a quadrajet. Take a pic, and describe which rod, and maybe I can help you. C

I rebuilt the carb on my 1970 Eldo and it had a bent rod as well. The carb that was on the car was remanufactured and I'm guessing that it got bent when someone put it back together. I carefully straightened it and re-used it.

My carb has a retaining clip that holds the power piston in place. However, I rebuilt a newer one that had a sort of circular gasket that held the power piston in place. Either way, there should be something that keeps the power piston from completely popping out.
