Ok, I know you guys all think I am a transformers geek.... Ok I am.

So I will give you my wife's review (she, unlike me, is a normal person):

To set the stage; she thinks the great recent movies are Memoir of a Gesha (dont correct me, I really dont care how it is spelled) and Brokeback Mountain. If you ask her how Revenge of the Sith was she would say it was "alright." Live Free or Diehard was "okay".

I basically dragged her to this movie. When she saw the trailers, she rolled her eyes. "Oh great, another geek movie for you." I got her to go because Josh Duhamel is in it. Yup, that got her attention.

When the credits rolled at the end of Transformers, she grabbed my arm---no---she almost broke my arm, and said "OOOOOOHHHHH----MY------GOOOODDDD, that was f***ing amazing!" Yes, my sweet little woman used the F word! And she loved this movie. And she does not love regular action movies, much less a geek action movie. Oh, and she never even mentioned Josh Duhamel. I think she forgot about him. His name never came up on the way home. But the names Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Megatron and Starscream she remembered.

Bottom line, you must get to your nearest theatre as soon as possible to see this movie. This is going to be huge, maybe, just maybe, Titanic huge, or close.

There are many rumors that this will be the highest grossing movie of all time, surpassing Titanic by a small margin. We shall see...

Im going to wait a few weeks and then see it,maybe in the $1 theater. I HATE WITH AN ALL-CONSUMING FIREY PASSION going to movies. Theres always some "person" hooting and hollering. "Ahhh damn, ahh damn, oh no he di'nt". Babys crying, people screaming. Some jerk off kicking the back of your chair. F that S. I like to watch my movie in peace, and the average American movie goer is an inconsiderate,loud-mouthed,prick with no manners whatsoever.

Sorry for that rant. I am done.

Sorry for that rant. I am done. :eek:I'm with you on this. I was very annoyed and offended watching 'Saving Private Ryan' in the theater when some guy laughed at the scene of the young guy on the beach who got shot in the head after a near miss through his helmet. There were other instances of disrespect as well. Not that it matters so much, it was only a movie but it had such a feeling of reality to it that I had a hard time not taking it so seriously. I've learned to wait and watch them in the privacy of my own home.

I'm becoming my Dad in a way, his line was, "I'll wait till it comes on TV" while I like to wait until it comes out on DVD.

It can be somewhat scary and annoying how much we become like our parents!!

By the way, best line in the movie; when they introduce Jazz (below), he says "What's crackin' bitches?" Awesome.

And the best visual, I thought, there is a nighttime scene near a bridge, at the end of the scene Bumblebee (the new camaro) transforms, and about halfway through his transformation, his rear wheels start spinning, so when he finishes transforming, he is already fishtailing away. I just thought that was great.

Similar story here:

Saw Pearl Jam and Death Cab for Cutie at the Silver Spurs Arena back in '04 on the Vote For Change Tour. EVERYONE was smoking trees. I mean random people were passing around joints and pipes to everyone. It was pretty crazy. I had snuck a Zephyrhills bottle full of Captain Morgan and got so sloshed i barely remember the show. I do remember Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins getting on stage and singing with Eddie Vedder. And the crowd going all-holy apeshit when they played "Keep on rockin' in the free world". That was something to see...

Good times.

I too am awaiting the DVD.... I'm tired of paying big bucks for a crappy seat in a theatre next to a bunch of morons...

I have 60 inches of joy in my house... where I have total control over the morons I might have to sit with... (or not!)

Plus, the time gap from theatre to DVD is getting shorter.

I too am disturbed by the subtle slouching towards my Dad, but...

Just saw "Ghost Rider". For $10 at the theatres, I dunno... but for a $3 rental, in the privacy of my own home, it was great.

Now I gotta see this movie, but like other movie goers, will wait til it comes out on PPV. I too hate the movie experience with inconsiderate patrons. And as far as Saving Private Ryan, I cried. I can't believe anyone laughed at a soldier being killed.

the time between theater and dvd i think is based on the success of the movie. if itd doing really well for a long time then they keep it off of dvd's to let other theaters like the 3 dollar theaters get it and then finally bring it to dvd. thats just my theory

i bet transformers will be crimmus

WOW... it was awesome!

Yeah, when she started talking about headers and carburators.... heh...

I dunno about everyone else, but here in Middle, Georgia.... Redneckville.... when the old Camaro was transformed into the new Camaro and they showed it on the screen... everyone in the theater started clapping and screaming.... it was pretty cool.

GM definitly had a strong influence, from the old GMC tow truck to all the new GTO's that were getting blown up.... it was pretty cool.

Actually, that new camaro is a GTO with a fiberglass new-camaro-shaped body. Built by Saleen. Apparently GM did not want to loan out the few hand built Camaro prototypes they have.

Lol...ill get back to the topic of Transformers. Saw it the other night. GREAT effects. SO wierd seeing transformers acutally come to life. BUT i will say this. I was NOT a fan of all those ''funny'' parts of the movie. All the bumbling idiot scenes with shia labeouf and the other human characters. That kind of stuff in serious movies simply annoys me and its not funny.

Also...I was never a big Transformers fan, but, when Bumble Bee changes into robot form, how the hell is he so tall? How is there that much mass inside a Camaro to get some enormous 10 story tall robot? Was it always like that?

dont get me started people, this is how I got banned from the transformers forums:

IT IS NOT REAL; IT IS A MOVIE :thepan:

If you want realism in a movie, go watch a soapbox drama. I want unbelievable. I want over the top. I want NY cops riding on the rudder of a fighter jet; and gawdammit I want a camaro and a mustang cop car that turn into 30 ft tall robots and get in a boxing match.

See that is where you and I differ. I enjoy the fantasy part of the movie if that is what the storyline calls for. But I like a sense of realism. I understand it is a movie, but for me that does not mean anything and everything goes. The 10 story tall stuff in Transformers didn't annoy me at all, I was just curious of anyone else noticed that. To me, if a movie is based in the real world, I like a sense of realism associated with that. I want to go to the theater and be taken into another world, BUT I want to actually believe what I see. The whole storyline of the Transformers is fine with me, I mean that is what the movie is about I was just curious about shoving 10 stories worth of robot into a Camaro, not a big deal, just something I noticed.

I enjoy movies such as Batman Begins and The Terminator. Yes both have the fantasy element, but at the same time the movies were made to the point where I feel that could actually happen. And that is exactly what James Cameron and Chris Nolan did with those movies. Make it as realistic as possible.

If you have ever seen Transporter 2, the scene where he gets the bomb off the bottom of the vehicle. Yes it was a movie, but that scene was honestly the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and to me, not EVERYTHING goes. To me it just made the movie cheesy.

Back to Transformers. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie. I just hated all the human parts with the stupid jokes that weren't funny. While I was watching I kept wanting to see the Transformers again and skip over the people parts. I don't like when movies are dumbed down for the kid audience.

What people dont seem to get, the more screen time you give the transformers, the more special effects, the more money needed. They did not have unlimited budget for that. And Michael Bay likes 'realism' in appearance. That is why he did so much filming, he does not like green screen or CGI backgrounds. He used alot of budget on filming. If this movie rakes in the dough, I am sure they will get a bigger budget next time. More TFs.

So for this movie, that meant more people parts. Besides, all TF and no people would be great for us diehard fans, but would have less mass appeal. And for this movie to be successful, it requires mass appeal.

The 10 story tall stuff in Transformers didn't annoy me at all, I was just curious of anyone else noticed that.

There are no 10 story transformers. Megatron is the largest at 30 feet. I believe that is 3 stories? He is an alien jet so he can be big. I never saw figures on the other Decepticons.

Optimus Prime is 27 feet. Actually the reason they changed him to a Peterbuilt from his G1 flatnosed version (and started a huge controversy) is to make him that tall. As a flatnose truck, he would have been less than 20 feet tall.

I am not sure how tall Bumblebee (the camaro) is, but I know he was considerably shorter than Optimus.

Bear in mind, all the above facts are out of my nearly year old hazy memories. I dont have time to research. But I do know they did give consideration to real physics when creating the computer models. Though I am sure some exaggeration was afforded.
