Hello everyone,
I am new to these forums. I have a 99 Seville SLS and for about 4.5 years I have loved it! Now I am so frustrated with it I feel like this guy-> :banghead: .
About 6 mos. ago my car began to cut off (die) at various unpredictable times. The only consistent thing is that it has not died while I was pressing the accelerator. I am coasting, braking, or turning when it dies and I loose all control of the vehicle. It will crank back up immediately, but it has put me in some very dangerous situations.
Has anyone run into this problem? I have taken it to the dealership 4 times. I just picked it up this morning (after it was "fixed"), and it died on me twice before I made it the 7 miles to work. I was in tears by the time I got in.
So far I have replaced the IAC Solenoid, the ignition switch, the main computer, the crank position sensors, and the spark plug wires. I am definitely not a mechanic, but it seems like an electrical problem to me. They hooked up a vehicle data recorder to the steering wheel and for 3 months I drove with that on and it NEVER died. That sounds like a short circuit somewhere.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy post, but does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks a bunch,
Mary Kathryn
