i got to the tumblers and can rotate the the dog, the dash lights change (some stay on some go off, like the switch is working) but no solenoid click. am i missing something. car in park, door closed. etwo thin wires go to the key/tumbler escutchen, what are they? i dropped the column found a white plasic box with heavy wires, found the hot and jumped to the 8 other leads, nothing...

Sounds like you made your VATS system mad. Those two wires read the ressitance of the pellet in the key. no pellet or wrong pellet= no start.

thanks dave, very nice to know this. i'll be able to get it running again tomorrow. though there's a little plastic brush holder, to the left of the cylinder locking bolt, looking into the column...?

dave- sure enough with those leads soldered in the solenoid click was back. thanks again for saving me alot of figuring. on the otherhand the solenoid took it as an opportunity too give up, so it's getting a filing and polish...
