View Full Version : Sirius in 04 with Nav

I have the Bose nav unit but do not have the XM receiver installed. I just bought the SIR-GM1 unit and would like to install it. Is this just plug and play or am I going to have to hook it to the battery and add pins or something like that?

Hello Yaemish,
The forum would not allow me to send a PM, so I am posting here. I did not install the satellite unit in my 04 DHS yet because of warranty work that I am getting done on my Deville. However, we did install an XM Satellite unit in my friend's 03 Deville, though we installed this unit which works like a charm and I am most likely going to go with this unit as well. It works with Class II Radio units which is what your car should have as it is what my car has.:)

Compatibility Chart:

NOTE: Even thought the unit came with everything we needed, I bought some extra cables and ran the the attennae to the rear dash of the car instead of putting it on the front dash.

I hope this helps..

Thanks for the reply! I am going to have the unit installed in the SRX as well as one in my Seville. The SIR-GM1 packaging says 2003 and newer but if you look around it says that in 2002 Cadillac made it and option in the Sevilles and Devilles and they were the first GM cars that had the option. I hope it works.

I haven't tried on teh SRX yet, I'm not sure how to do it.

Anyone do this yet? I'm thinking about the Starwhatever unit for Sirius. Is there a way to do AUX in the SRX so that this works?

I installed my SIR-GM1 last week and I'm loving it. I had the XM tuner though. You should be able to use the SIR-GM1 as well, you just need to use the extra cables that are supplied. Don't worry about running power wires or anything, the SIR-GM1 doesn't use them.

Yeah, but the harness doesn't plug into the car if you don't have XM. Where do you install the box? I wonder if there are wires run for that. If there are I just need to figure out what each does.

I installed mine in the very back of the car, behind the subwoofer. You should be able to install the SIR-GM1 without the XM tuner, see the link below.

One thing I noticed, when I press the steering wheel control (1-6) it always starts cycling through them at channel 2 and not 1. It's weird.
