Am I the only one that wants a CTS-V with an auto. trans.:worship:
Just love my 2007 CTS 3.6L, but I would jump on an auto CTS- V quick.
I`m an old man and don`t want the hassle of shifting gears, I just want to put it in drive an cruise ...

Why not buy an STS-V?

The difference in price between a 3.6L CTS and CTS-V is not too bad, but the price difference between the 3.6L CTS and STS-V is way too much for some to swallow, however you can get a very low mileage STS-V right now for less than you can get a new CTS-V for.

All it takes is some good old fashioned searching.

That's a good point, Aero1.. But, I don't think it would be so bad to have the OPTION of an automatic in a CTS-V. If you want a stick, buy a stick. If you want an automatic, buy an automatic..

I agree with what you are saying, but why even discuss it when there is no use?

I am sure Cadillac would have been sold out on the CTS-Vs every year if they would have given buyers the choice of a 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual. The reason why Cadillac couldn't offer an automatic tranny on the CTS-V was because they didn't have enough room behind the engine for the 6 speed auto to fit. The 6 speed manual tranny (T56) is a smaller and somewhat slimmer unit over the Aisin 6 speed automatic trans that is used in the '06 and up C6 Corvette and 2007 Escalade. Plus Cadillac engineers felt that the car would be more sporty with the manual trans. What Cadillac did learn was there was a market and demand for their V-series cars because they offered higher performance levels at a lower price than their competitors.

I am sure the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will have a 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic so that Cadillac can sell more and the buyer can have the option. I would and I am sure most CTS-V buyers would most likely go for the automatic version because if they are like me, manual trannies can be a pain. If you track the car, then you want a manual, but how many CTS-V owners primarily use their cars for track use only? I had a 2006 CTS-V for a year and it was great on the highways, but terrible on the streets, especially in heavy traffic. Plus most Cadillac buyers want to cruise and have the power at the same time. I hope Cadillac learned from their mistake with the 04-07 CTS-V and gives the buyer the option of which tranny they would like to have. Let's just hope that the 6 speed automatic they give us has the paddle shifters like the C6 Corvette.

Believe me I looked at a lot of STS`s new and used, but one look at the CTS was all that was needed ..

Autos kill performance car sales. Don't do it, Cadillac! Don't let the lazies have their way! :bouncy:

Just think about it, auto. trans. with a quick-shift-kit.

6 speed paddle shift like the Vette. That is what this car needs before I will consider one.

:vomit: :ack:

IMHO CTS-V should stay a true halo sports sedan, not a 'sporty' sedan.

With that said, I bet the next V will have a slushbox :crybaby: .

On a positive note, I bet an M6 '09 will be far and few between, and end up being worth a lot of money at Barret Jackson '49.

Put an auto in it and they will come.

I agree! They will sell out of all the autos and the manual cars will be sitting on dealer lots a bit longer.

I agree 100%! An automatic trans on this beautiful car would ruin it. It's meant to be a SPORTS car. nothing sporty about an automatic
