: Coolant Leak

I have been noticing a significant amount of something dripping from the car when i get home. I just assumed it was the AC, well 2 weeks of this and the low coolant light came on last night. Obviously it's a slow leak but i still want to fix it. I took off the air dam ma-bobber last night so i could see where it's dripping from when i got to work this morning. The car is so damn low i couldnt see much, but it appeared to be coming from around the transmission. Does the antifreeze/coolant run through the tranny? I had that belt split a couple weeks ago too so i thought maybe it sliced a hose. Any help would be appreciated!

The early radiators had a defective crimp on the bottom. The airlow under the car blows the coolant everywhere, so it's tough to tell where it's coming from.

Take it to your dealer, and ask them to check the bulletin regarding leaking radiators. There's a VIN breakpoint (I think) that tells them if the radiator is the old part#. The good news is even if that's not the issue, a coolant leak will be fully covered by warranty.

What if i just hit 50k miles??? 50,700 this morning  Is this like a recall thing or warranty?

It's warranty, but dealers have the authority to "bend" the rules on cars that have recently gone out. If you have serviced your car at this dealer and have always treated them right, now is when you will reap the benefits. This is why I always advise people not to get pissy with their service department.

If it is the radiator but they don't want to do anything for you, I'd gently press the issue that it's a known problem with the car, not just a random failure.

Good luck, and keep us informed.

Ok the dealer says my radiator is fine... I still havent had a chance to see under the car, its too low. It's raining in Dallas today, so some of the water is from that. I just stuck my camera under the car to take pics so i can see whats going on down there. Looks like the fluid is dripping from something on top of the tranny and dripping down. Anyone have or know where i can get a diagram of the cooling system? I'll jack it up tomorrow and get under there, just want to have an idea of what im looking for.....Thanks!

The car is so damn low i couldnt see much, !

You need rhino ramps. At first, I wouldn't buy them cause they are plastic. After a few dealer priced oil changes and seeing them for like 35 bucks at autozone, I picked up they heavier duty truck ones(12000lb). They are great and don't rust all over everything. Now I can't live without them. http://www.rhinoramps.com/home.html
You'll find yourself under the car a lot more after you get them. There are things to see, do, and clean under there.
