Do a search. The bottom line is that the speed limiter was set at the factory based on the tires that were originally ordered on the car. The car without a speed limiter is well capable of 150, at least the DTS version is. NO you can't get them to change it.

Like the rest of us you have now learned to read the door sticker BEFORE buying the car.

As I recall, there is a chip for '93-95 model years that disables the speed governor .
112 is not to be sneezed at all just imagine you don't have HT4100 lol

OBDI = 1st Generation On Board Diagnostics (pre '96)
OBDII = 2nd Generation ('96+)

Mikeman, Change your vehicle profile so the model and year shows up in your header. It will make diagnosis and recommendation easier if we know whether your car is a 1935 Phaeton or 2003 DTS. (Yours sounds like a S-rated DHS - look at the tire rating sticker on the driver's door jamb. The rating will follow the front and rear tire numbers.)

That statement is not correct. I don't think I can do it on a Metro. I can do it on all Northstars and possibly all Cadillacs. In theory If I can find a Z or W rated tire 03 CTS I could copy and paste that portion into the program.

and the answer, the fastest Deville is a 97-99 Deville Concourse, they came from the factory with H rated tires (no w or z was available) limited at 130, your base Deville and Deville Concourse (95-96) came with S tires (no other speed rated tires available) limited at 112.

My Seville is without speed limiter and runs about 268 km/h (167 mph) with a long warm up on the German Autobahn :) (ok, down a little mountain)

clarkz71, You ever drive in Europe ???? Different world of roads and machinery. Drop the limiter and a good Seville will run at 5,250 all day long. Heck, back in '68 the "speed limit" on the Naples-Rome Autostrada was 80+ mph (130 km/h)

Ever heard a 3 liter DOHC Ferrari V12 go by at 8,500 rpm ? Goosebumps. (...while you're doing 100....)

All U.S. roads are unsafe above 45 mph, because we don't know how to build motorways.

I topped my 98 Deville out last week on hwy 155, the engine cut off at 110- 112, I just wanted to see how fast it would go once. I had to blow the soot out. hehehe TexasCadillac :)

Nope! we don't want to go that fast on the roads we have here even though we have roads good for 70-80. I live in east Texas hill country and can usually see only 1 mile ahead because of hills and trees. TexasCadillac

Yes, I have driven in europe, I was born in France. Been back several times to visit family.
The last time was 1985 I drove in France and Gemany on the autobahn. I was in Germany to
visit the Mercedes factory.

I also as a high line auto technician have driven several Ferrari V-12 cars
including a vintage 250 GT and a Mondial cabriolet. So I've heard those V-12's first hand.

I've also done a valve adjustment on a 308 GTB, so of course I had to road test that as well.

Bottom line, a stock seville might go 150 or 155, Not 168.
