"Diesel Power" magazine reports that an Italian-made 2.8 liter V-6 diesel will be marketed in Europe with the new '08 CTS. Usually, this produces a yawn reaction, but this diesel may be something to consider. The article says it will produce about 250 hp. Torque is a big number approaching 400 ft. lb., which is what the LS2 V-8 produces.
CTS has not sold well in Europe, so I expect production numbers will be low.

I wish they would sell them in the US, because gas prices are so much better on the diesel end.

Not to mention the gobs of low end torque and utterly amazing fuel economy.

Well, that goes without saying.

I just got back from spending 2 weeks in Europe...they run everything on diesel. Lucky bastards. Every car you can imagine in the US, with a diesel engine. It's different thats for sure. My wife had a diesel beetle once and it got ~50 mpg.
