Hello
My name is Klaus. I come from Stuttgart, Germany.
My car is an FWD Cadillac Eldorado Convertible from 1974.
It is an original car, with no tuning or anything. It’s a daily drivers car and I drive this car in Europe with unleaded fuel. My engine is the original 500 cui ( Numbers on the engine block: 1495200 and 6404 3 5971 (the 6 also could be a S).
My technical English is not so good and therefore I need your help.
I would like the following parts milled from aluminium:
- Oilpan FWD (Engine)
- Oilpan TH 425 (Transmission)
- Valve covers
I promises from the milled parts an better seal plant that from the original plates.
Do you know an address where I can order these parts (especially the oilpans) in good quality? Which products do you prefer?
And now another question:
Because of a loud noise of one of my hydraulic tappets and oil leaking I would open my engine this winter. I would clean all the parts and will fit the engine with a new gasket set. I will change all 16 hydraulic tappets. The gasket set, and the hydraulic tappets lie already in my garage. If everything with the pistons, crankshaft and camshaft is ok, I wouldn’t touch these things. My engine had 50000 original miles and I hope that in these parts everything is ok.
When I open my engine which parts do you prefer to change on a daily drivers car? Is there anything you would prefer to optimize on an original 500 cui engine?
Should I change the pushrods when I install new hydraulic tappets? What should I change if I want have a little more power. Is it easy to change the camshaft and the cam bearing set? Is it meaningfully to install another rockerarms?
I hope my English was to some extend understandable. I thank you for your assistance. Love of greetings from Germany.
Klaus
