Wheelman322 06-10-07, 07:46 PM I don't have an answer, but it's a really good question. I think the 59 eldorado is in the top #3. lesinfamous 06-10-07, 07:59 PM i thought the 60's were wider than the 50's I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-10-07, 08:04 PM Lemme go dig up my "standard guide to Cadillac 1903-2000"...it's got stats like that for all the years..... 1975 Fleetwood: 80 inches. The book doesn't offer any width/height dimensions for the cars that are older than 1972, so until I can find the '59's dimensions, the 74-76 Calais/deVille/Fleetwoods and 71-78 Eldorados are the widest at 80 inches. lesinfamous 06-10-07, 08:51 PM im pretty sure you are right i mean judging by the tread of the 50's and 60's the 74-76 had the widest tread at 63.3" front and rear, Cadillac Giovanni 06-11-07, 12:18 AM I figure he's right too. I'm sure that era boasts the longest of all Cadillacs, so it would stand to reason they would also be the widest. 77CDV 06-11-07, 12:56 AM The 71-76 C-bodies are the widest, hands down. lesinfamous 06-11-07, 01:32 AM what models used the c body? I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-11-07, 01:45 AM Fleetwood/Calais/Deville. lesinfamous 06-11-07, 01:48 AM thanksss a lot fellass!!!!! you all have been 2 helpful! lesinfamous 06-11-07, 01:55 AM I figure he's right too. I'm sure that era boasts the longest of all Cadillacs, so it would stand to reason they would also be the widest. youre completely right, my fleetwood 9 passenger sedan is the longest cadillac production vehicle ever at 252.2". just over 21 feet long!!:) Cadillac Giovanni 06-11-07, 01:56 PM Heh, i know those vehicles would be restricted from driving the auto road at mount Washington due to their prodigious width and wheelbase. For some reason they also ban all Lincoln Continentals 1969 and earlier... z06bigbird 06-11-07, 08:49 PM 80 inches is the maximum width of any car. Anything wider requires side marker lights like trucks have. Things may have changed, but that was what the PA state inspection book used to say. Cadillac Giovanni 06-11-07, 09:01 PM Pff! That explains it! Lousy restrictions! Cadillac would have never stopped at 80! I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-11-07, 11:07 PM You guys would wanna own a car that's wider than eighty inches? eldorado99 06-11-07, 11:13 PM You guys would wanna own a car that's wider than eighty inches? What self-respecting Cadillac owner wouldn't? ;) I won't stop until I find a Caddy that is 2 lanes wide and 45 feet long! :) cadydaddy 06-12-07, 05:26 PM My cadillac is 78 inches and I never park anywhere close to anyone else for fear of door dings. now my little toyota pickup is about half as wide lol so I dont worry there. Benzilla 06-12-07, 07:28 PM youre completely right, my fleetwood 9 passenger sedan is the longest cadillac production vehicle ever at 252.2". just over 21 feet long!!:) I'm kind of foggy on the pre-1977 Caddies, would that be the series 75, or a longer limo? I've thought about getting a 1976 series 75, just because it's so massive. I actually like the looks of the Coupe Deville much more, but it's not as long. I want to drive the biggest damn Cadillac I can find. Mostly just to piss off environmentalists  Cadillac Giovanni 06-12-07, 08:07 PM The nine passenger is the series 75 indeed. The real limos got even longer, especially when they were chopped and built custom. I know it's huge and it IS a production model, but I don't count the series 75 because it does look like a limo, and it throws off the proportion of the car, however, the plain vanilla fleetwood of those years Is pretty much longer than anything else you'd find anyway. Yeah I hate those environmentalists. Red_October_7000 06-13-07, 01:15 AM If you throw out the Series 75s then the longest non-limo cars are the 73 (and only 73) Imperials, at 19' 9". But the 1975 Series 75 is a regular production model (albeit one made by grafting one regular production model onto another), and therefor is the longest regular-production car. The reason only the 73 Chysler Imperials are that long is that they gained something like 3" thanks to "Park Bench" bumpers that were mandated at the time. lesinfamous 06-13-07, 05:54 AM The nine passenger is the series 75 indeed. Yeah I hate those environmentalists. i agree/disagree. It looks like a limo on the count that no normal sedan would be that long. However, it does NOT have the " gaudy stretched" look. For example, if it was a six door limo. As memtioned in another post, its a brougham with the end of the coupe attached. The hood is long as is the trunk so the proportions are pretty good for a car with a 151.5" wheelbase...but those are my thoughts. lesinfamous 06-13-07, 06:02 AM My cadillac is 78 inches and I never park anywhere close to anyone else for fear of door dings. now my little toyota pickup is about half as wide lol so I dont worry there. lemme take a guess...do you have a 93-96 body fleetwood?? cadydaddy 06-13-07, 12:37 PM lemme take a guess...do you have a 93-96 body fleetwood?? lesinfamous 06-13-07, 02:08 PM lol clutch lesinfamous 06-13-07, 10:41 PM i have a 75 limo which i just found out is a d body. anyone know if the d body is the same width as the c body? can anyone verify? 77CDV 06-14-07, 10:31 PM Yes, same width. lesinfamous 06-14-07, 10:46 PM kk thanks!! i can finally get sleep at night:D | |
