View Full Version : My Brougham's first show! Benzilla 06-05-07, 11:35 AM So, last Saturday I took my '90 to a show because my '79 is awaiting paint. This was the first show it'd even been to, and I was surprised how much attention got got from such a wide range of people. There was one lady who bought a 1980, and 1984 Broughams brand new, both in dark blue so she fell in love with mine. Got a couple offers too. And I came away with a top 50 trophy in a 130 car show. It was the only Cadillac there!
Here she is in her element.

Then there was a police escort over to the weekly cruise-in, where I parked next to my friend who has this beautiful '68 rag top.

It was a good day. 90Brougham350 06-05-07, 12:20 PM You're back! Congrats Ben, I wish my Brougham was in nearly as good of shape as yours, I love that car. lochenjons 06-05-07, 01:35 PM hey dude as always, GREAT looking caddy! i wish mine could look as good as that. i gotta get on repainting it and taking all the dents out! congrats dude! boricuacaddy 06-05-07, 02:42 PM Very sweet ride! I have always love those car. Maybe one day I will come across one of those beauties in that condition.
David 96Fleetwood 06-05-07, 02:58 PM Awesome! It becomes addicting once you start going to shows... for the last 5 years I have been looking forward to show season, I can't wait till March rolls around every year  I~LUV~Caddys8792 06-05-07, 09:19 PM God I wish I had a car that was show worthy, I mean my '92 is nice and all but it's nowhere near that clean. And that's your daily driver Ben!
BTW: great to have you back! Benzilla 06-05-07, 09:46 PM Thanks guys. And to think that I was toying with the idea of selling it for a DTS.. this weekend changed that. I love the big blue boat.
Chad, right now it's a semi-daily. Since I got the Sentra I've been using that on rainy days and boring grocery trips. I'm kinda glad I bought that little thing, it makes me remember just how good I have it with the Cadillacs. So right now the '90 is sort of a weekend/evening cruiser just like the '79. Although I am taking it on a trip back up to Michigan this summer to spend a week at my late uncle's cabin. I'm going to go all over the state visiting old places. It'll be great. I think she'll do fine. Wheelman322 06-05-07, 11:03 PM Looking at your Brougham makes me wish I kept mine. I had a white with Blue leather 90 with 58K miles when I sold it. The only reason I dumped it was because it had the 5.0. I couldn't deal with the sluggishness, and it was either that or my 78, so I guess in retrospect I made the right decision.

Here's another picture of a DTS that was at the cruise-in. The owner also has an Autumn Maple Firemist '91 Brougham with original wires. I'll try to get a picture of that. He made me an offer on my '90, too.

I sold that Brougham on Ebay three years ago to a guy in North Carolina. I wonder if he's a forum member...
Don't forget...If you ever decide to part ways with your Brougham you have a potential buyer right here. I love that color blue...and a 5.7 to boot. Cadillacboy 06-06-07, 11:58 AM Thanks for the pics :)
Brougham outclassed rest of the cars ;) She's beautiful, Ben! My 77 should look so good. Very classy ride, the perfect companion for the Phaeton.
Craig Destroyer 06-07-07, 10:32 PM The cloth top on the DTS is just nasty. Is it just me or are most newer Cadillacs ugly?. Anyway, as always that blue '91 is a great looking ride Benzilla!. Agree with Destroyer about the newer full sized Caddies - from 2000 on, they just look like what they are: a tarted up Monte Carlo! They allowed the 2000+ Devilles to leave the design studio too early Cadillacboy 06-08-07, 08:58 AM I hate to say yet I find the most Cadillacs are lack of nice looking I don't wanna call a Caddy ugly .
GM should desperately bring back Fleetwood Brougham however not touching outside appreance so deeply just a small few face lift would work great .
I think , '00-05 DTS vs '06 and up , the first one is not well designed
'98-'04 Seville vs '05 and up STS , the first one better looking
First gen CTS vs '08 upcoming CTS , 2nd is awesome Benzilla 06-08-07, 02:14 PM I'm not a fan of the 2000-2005 Devilles, but I thing for the most part, the new DTS's are good looking cars. Not the one up there though ^, the top clashed and it just looks weird. But when I see a DTS going down the road, it usually grabs me. I love the rear end. It seems very 'Cadillac' to me. Some people say there's too much paint, I don't see that at all... It's just enough class with edge. When I saw one side by side with a '05 I was surprised at how much more aggressive the new DTS looked. I'm seriously considering a DTS for a highway car, either a Lux 2 or performance with chrome 18's and sage or black paint, or maybe silver with a cashmere canvas top.
What do you guys think of this? I'm not a big fan of cloth tops on most new cars, but I think this looks awesome. Opinions?

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/Cadillac_guy/297e_3.jpg Well gentlemen, I see Ben is bangin' on all cylinders again - agree 110% with his view re: the new DTS (2006-07) vs. the 2000+ boats. I rented a new 2000 back when I had to take a 500 mile round trip to another town. Figured I could compare it to my own 1988 Deville. Well, after that trip, I was never so glad to go back to my own car! The 2000 did NOt have the same interior room, or it wasn't laid out right, or something else was wrong with it - the exterior most certainly DID NOT grab me like all the other Caddies have. The 2000-05 Devilles just seem to lack "the royal jelly" or whatever you want to call it that a car of that ilk should be displaying, especially if it's going up against the Towncar.
No, I knew when the 2000 models came out that I'd better make sure I got the BEST damn 1997-99 specimen of Deville with low mileage I could afford, 'cuz it was gonna have to last me a looooong, looooong time.
Now, I waiting on the NEXT version to come out. I'm not a fan of the 2000-2005 Devilles, but I thing for the most part, the new DTS's are good looking cars. Not the one up there though ^, the top clashed and it just looks weird. But when I see a DTS going down the road, it usually grabs me. I love the rear end. It seems very 'Cadillac' to me. The extra gingerbread doesn't float my boat, but, if you like it, then cool. As to the car itself, I can honestly say that I really like it. Smoothe, powerful, composed, quiet, and very comfy. It is a step up from my 03 DHS, but I will say that the DHS was also a very nice car and compared favorably with my 89 60S, which was the last full-sized Caddy I'd owned previous. | |
