Still can't figure out what's causing the problems with my car. Idles great when it's cold, but once it's heated up, the idle gets lumpy (stays under 1000RPM, but the needle moves), and it's got an exhaust rattle that seems to almost mimic the idle. I can see the pipes rattle, and they bounce inside the tips.

Any idea what the hell's causing it? I'm debating changing the O2 sensors, as the car's got 204,000km on it, and I have no idea if they've ever been done. My uncle's a mechanic, and he's looked at it. Cleaned the throttle body, and the next thing he wants to do is a compression check, and maybe the spark plugs.

Any ideas? It's frustrating, because I love the car, but little stuff like this drives me mad!

Did you pull the codes? When you cleaned the TB, did you rod out the EGR tubes inside?

There are no active codes (there was a history code for left/right fuel bank difference), but that was it.

I didn't clean the tubes; didn't think of it. Anything special to clean it, or just throttle body cleaner and a brush that will fit?

Coat hangar. Anything that will break up the carbon.

Cool.

Thanks, Ranger; I'll give that a try tomorrow. That's the small tube at the bottom of the TB, correct?
