Hi All. during my radiator replacement I disconnected the battery, let it sit overnight and then touched the negative and positive battery connectors together for 30 seconds to reboot my BCM. I did this twice to make sure I did it.

After putting everything back together I still have BCM-related codes being generated.. so I think my BCM is junk... most likely because of a failed automatic car starter installation that I tried to get done several years ago. I've only recently learned how to read the diagnostic errors so now I'm chasing the problem.

At any rate, I think I've located a few places that will sell me a used BCM. My question is, what's the procedure for changing out the BCM?

Is it just a simple matter of taking out the old one and putting in the new?

Thanks!

The BCM (Body Control Module) is located behind the glove box in a Deville, you have to take your glove box out 1st and unplug your trunk switch and glove box light, then take the glove box out and you should see the BCM on the left> It looks like a Metal box 6" x 8" with a Plug harness and it's mounted with 2 bolts on a mounting bracket. I would disconnect your POS and NEG terminals from your battery 1st. Then you can take the 2 bolts out of the BCM bracket and Unplug the harness from the BCM. I replaced mine last summer, it was real easy.

I've read somewhere that it may not be as easy as replacing the module for a new one. On newer caddies (Mine is a 99 Eldorado) there is a certain amount of reprogramming that is necessary. I guess that's my question really - is a reprogram necessary or is it just a straight one for one swap?
