OK I have had it for about a year now, and I can never get over 9.9MPG.
No modifications or crazy driving, we actually baby it!

Anyone else get better mileage? My dealer keeps saying the engine needs to break in, but CMON 8K miles later and a year of time and NO difference.

Scott,

Being that the car is heavier than a 2WD Suburban due to the AWD system and bigger engine, you may not be able to get that much more. My wife's 2WD Escalade has a little over 13K miles on it, and she can't get any better than 13-14 MPG. And that's being really easy on the gas pedal.

My advice to you would be to do a K&N cold air intake system and a good dyno tune in order to get more power while getting better gas mileage. That is what I plan on doing to my wife's Escalade and I should be able to get 2-5 more MPG along with more power. My buddy picked up 4 MPG on his 2007 Escalade ESV with the K&N Aircharger and dyno tune. He also picked up close to 50AWDHP (all wheel drive horsepower) and the before and after drive confirmed the huge difference in power. Since you have AWD like my buddy does, you will need to visit a tuner that has an AWD dyno so you can get it tuned. The 6.2L engine is a really good motor, but it lags off the bottom and needs a good tune. GM's calibration is terrible and there is a huge room for improvement. The Escalade is a great platform to start with, but with a good tune, you can get amazing results.

www.thelapd.com did my buddy's ESV when they had an AWD dyno. I had my 2007 Z06 done last week at LAPD and they got a new 2WD dyno so I know they can tune it would most likely be a street tune. A street tune isn't bad, but you just won't get any dyno numbers. What you will get is a lot more power and better gas mileage. Doug over at LAPD is a great tuner.

Call LAPD and ask for Al and tell him you want the K&N Aircharger for your ESV and a good tune. I already bought the K&N Aircharger, but since my wife uses her Escalade everyday, I haven't been able to install it and get it tuned. The K&N Aircharger I got is K&N part number 63-3058.

Hope this helps!

I bought an '05 ESV - Platinum about a month ago - has about 14k miles on it. I've been tracking the mpg closely since I've started driving it and right now I'm getting 16.1 mpg with a mix of city/highway driving. However, that is staying under the speed limit and coddling it - just to see what the max possible is.

Are you going by what the info screen reads for MPG or ...
are you calculating Actual Miles and Actual Gallons used.
Also, how much city and how much highway driving?
