StealthV 11-03-07, 01:47 PM The new V without AWD is heavier so - yes. lawfive 11-03-07, 01:54 PM Tony: any insider hints as to whether the V will be offered in coupe form when the CTS coupe and wagon variants (supposedly) arrive in 2009? CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 02:31 PM A station wagon V... The ultimate Sleeper? CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 02:34 PM The new V without AWD is heavier so - yes.
Yuk.
If I buy an 09 with AWD maybe I can take the All Terrains I have on my truck and put them on the V...
35" tires, Lift Kit, It will be time to put a V in 4 wheeler mag! StealthV 11-03-07, 03:49 PM Agree - I've already got AWD, 400+ hp L92 and 6-speed. The BFG A/T KOs are going on before the snow flies. StealthV 11-03-07, 03:52 PM And a V will never have a trunk this functional. :duck: CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 05:46 PM Nice truck Rick.
I had the A/T KO's (Great tires) but went with the Nitto's this last time. Real happy with them and Tracy from Trucks gave them a great review. Already siped pretty well for factory, maybe worth looking into?
Like the carpet, did you do that yourself or is it a kit?
If the 09 V comes in AWD then 09 CTS-V with auto and awd=4300 lbs
SRT8 won't be the heavyweight anymore CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 06:17 PM 4300 Pounds, ouch.
Gonna need some 16" rotors with 6 piston calipers and 550HP for this new V to edge out the Gen 1 V. that's why I dont think the 09 is going to be as good of a sport sedan. Sure with 550 hp, it will be alot faster, but more power does not equal more fun. 400 hp is more than enough for me. I would trade 30hp for 3 more mpg. CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 09:17 PM Oooh Jim, How could you speak words like that. With the price of gas I can understand your momentary lapse of sanity but stay strong, don't give up any HP!
Think they need to make what they have faster, lighter, more responsive, better MPG...
Don't sacrifice one for the other, I would like to think one of the big three could do better then I. AWD is not a new rumor. Please submit yourself for banishment.

Well, it is really easy to say I would make that trade when I know it aint ever gonna happen...
I guarantee the 09 V will only be heavier. The 3.6L CTS porked up over 300 lbs. CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 10:00 PM Wow 300 lbs on the 3.6L CTS, wow... I wounder if the weight is coming from the fender side vents and the pop-tart Nav. :D CTSV_Rob 11-03-07, 10:25 PM Has anyone checked to see if that 08 Diff is any better and if so will it fit into the 07 with some "Mod's" ("mod's goooood....") thebigjimsho 11-04-07, 12:56 AM Agree - I've already got AWD, 400+ hp L92 and 6-speed. IBTL/A 08 Diff is any better
There isn't an '08. '09 will be COMPLETELY different. JonCR96Z 11-04-07, 09:04 AM An all new four-wheel drive, Corvette Z06-engined, BMW M5-baiting Cadillac CTS-V will become the flagship of the re-launched US brand’s line-up next year - but Autocar has learned that US bosses have yet to approve the car for right-hand drive production.
The snorting 500bhp CTS, previewed by the CTS Sport concept shown at this week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, is still under development in the US. Over there bosses remain unconvinced of the financial case for exporting the super saloon to the UK, despite Cadillac bosses here fighting for the car to be imported as hard as they can.
US bosses are worried that the limited number of cars likely to be sold in right-hand drive markets doesn’t justify the millions of dollars needed to engineer the car properly for them.
If the new CTS-V is four-wheel drive, unlike any CTS gone before, the nature of its all-wheel drive system may make it all-the-more expensive to convert for right-hand-drive. All-wheel drive versions of Mercedes' C-class and BMW's 3-series, with a front-mounted engine and rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, require an extra driveshaft running forward from the transmission to the front wheels. In left-hand-drive models, this is routed through part of the front passenger footwell, and makes converting to right-hand drive prohibitively expensive. The same could be true for the new CTS-V.
However, a decision to bypass the UK market with its halo CTS could still be interpreted as proof that Cadillac still doesn’t take Britain seriously, and given this week’s re-launch of the struggling GM luxury brand, that's exactly what the firm doesn't need.

Okay, I'll bite. Bet on what? AWD or a Right-side version? rand49er 11-04-07, 10:19 AM Though granted, not much, sales could also go to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and (yeah right!) Japan. caddyv8v 11-04-07, 10:28 AM first i have heard/read of awd for the v. think of all the new threads regarding those weak front difs. CTSV_Rob 11-04-07, 11:54 AM There isn't an '08. '09 will be COMPLETELY different.
Funny, I thought there was a 08 CTS...
I was thinking whatever they use for the base CTS will be in the V but I could be wrong on that. Anyways, the mount should be the same so if you can conceptually install the 08 CTS Diff into a Gen 1 then the V should require the same changes (for example, the cradle will need to be swapped.)
I'm not sure what your definition of COMPLETELY different is but I looked underneath a 08 CTS and it looks very similiar and a retrofit does look possible. Now the retro might be cost prohibitive but I had to ask the question.
Never say die, don't give up to easily there is always a solution. AWD would be an Audi.
AWD would be twice as many diffs to explode.
AWD would suck. AWD would be twice as many diffs to explode.
 AWD would be an Audi.
AWD would be twice as many diffs to explode.
AWD would suck.
Twice as many complaints too! Gm would go on the cheap and use open diff with the brakes stopping wheel spin just likr MB and SRT/MB rear. Audi's quattro is too expensive.
They'll have their financial hands full with a coupe and wagon to see a V with awd.

If you waded through the info GM was throwing out there, apply a little bit of common sense, there was really no other alternative the the blown LSA at the mid 500 hp number.
I just would love to see it carry a DSG or SMG or something equivalent, now that would be sweet. Florian 11-06-07, 09:42 AM Okay, I'll bite. Bet on what? AWD or a Right-side version?

Love that movie! Or at least the car. As a kid, I always wanted to build that one day. And then when I could, I wasn't interested...I guess that's life....
(Early bird special was over so I came here for some dessert. Florian ate all the pudding!) CTSV_Rob 11-07-07, 12:35 AM When I was a kid and I saw that car I thought there was none better and I wanted one! Once I could afford it I decided it was just a tad much. Funny how that works...
I really liked the movie also but I won't watch it now. I watched phantasm (sp?) (the flying silver ball with the built in drill) the other day and told my friend it was one of the scariest movies. Man I was never so embarrassed, it sucked. I'm afraid the same might be true for that movie.
You got to watch out for Florian, always wants to be first and to get it all! Looks like he's no different with the Pudding! I'll bet he cheats at Bingo :D

Anyone else think the rear window looks abnormally small. Almost like the top section was replaced with sheetmetal. Possibly to compensate for the larger moon roof's detraction of chassis rigidity? I don't think the new CTS looks very good. But then I don't think the first gen looks all that great either. Styling is not a CTS-V strong point. But beauty is only skin-deep, and what the V has underneath is what counts. TheRooster 11-12-07, 03:38 PM Parts-bin engineering.

A conservative estimate is that the value will triple and each of us will become a shareholder with Barrett-Jackson. A Gen I with mileage under 50K will fetch minimum bids of no less than $120K, and if the dollar continues to bottom out, some foreigners would be willing to pay $160+K. My advise is to take out a third mortgage, get a really big warehouse and start storing some Vs for a rainy day.

D3 rebadges other people's parts and sells them at a profit. There's a market for roof spoilers and heavy wheels I guess, but they aren't a tuner- think of them like JC Whitney.
If Cadillac is going to have an "Official V-Series Tuner", it would most likely be a company that has experience working with the LS series motors and GM, such as Katech, Lingenfelter, Callaway or Mallett.

Yeah, in a straight line. The SRT does not have close to the handling prowess of the CTS-V, yet is has a far more punishing ride. Why? Because of 500 lbs of extra dead weight. I would give up 50 hp (from my bone stock 400) if I could give away 500 lbs with it. And supposedly, the 09 V is going to be about the weight of an SRT (4300 lbs). The current CTS-V is already a pig at 3800 lbs. I don't understand why it was anymore than 3500 lbs. I'm not sure why the mods decided to merge my thread about actual deposits on 2009 CTS-Vs into a rumors thread...:suspense:
