6 7 8 Florian 09-04-07, 09:12 AM Agreed. Hell, the RS4 is almost 70k. Still, the thoughts of that much hp in sedan version makes me moist.
Anyone see the pics of the new S5 from Audi? Pretty hot looking.
I followed one in Michigan at the Cruise.....very nice looking ride.

"The 300" Rocked :blurock: RunningOnEMT 09-04-07, 12:32 PM a friend of mine has both an S4 and an RS6... the RS6 was used by some tuners as a testbed car and i think it pushing 650hp to the wheels or something like that, sounds like a lean lean baby eating woodchipping turbine powered beast .... all you hear is turbo coming toward you and V8 rumble going away from you... SWEET, a Convertible. No too crazy about the chromed hub caps though.
I wonder if the YAMAHA on the side means it's going to have a Yamaha engine? I bet Jim is creamin' the shorts right now.

you know what we all think of Motortrend
that article is spotty anyway, they report ZR1 first appeared on 8 cars in 1971; that is incorrect; there were over 100 ZR1/LT1 built from 1970-1972. I have spent alot of time reading about them as it is my ultimate dream car. FOUND IT!!!! Sweet!

Unless of course, you are a writer from an auto mag; then the new interior is nice, but overdone, and they (as always) should have done it exactly like BMW.:banghead: ^^
That's funny, because I also think it's overdone. :hide:
Sure, it's nice but it's just to much bling for me. :o

My dealer had one with CF which looked a bit better. :)
I do really like the seats though, as they feel so soft and comfortable. some people are just never happy :bouncy: some people are just never happy :bouncy:

Is it so old guys can be reminded of the wood handles from their walking canes. :hmm: CTSV_Rob 09-08-07, 08:47 PM I'm happy with my not so stock 07, I prefer our body style to the new.
The one thing I can think of that I wish I had from the 08 is the NAV with the built in Hard Drive. I wonder if it will fit in the 07???? GMBOUND 09-08-07, 09:13 PM Love the Nav, really love the way the sreen pops up! captapp 09-09-07, 02:48 AM Sorry, the NBA "Bling" fender vents leave me out of any new Cadillacs. I will keep my '04 V untill it dies an untimely death!! ^^NBA "Bling" LOL.
Aside from the fact that I don't want those Vents on my car either... The '08 looks to be an exceptional accomplishment for a company that put out the Cimmaron and the diesel hump back Seville among other lows not all that long ago.
So where's the new V? The wood trim is fine... with the exception of the wood covering the top of the steering wheel. That sucks ass.
I have a solution... Does anyone have any inside information on the outside possibility that the 2009 CTS V-Series will have the Ultra V8 instead of a high performance Chevy engine?
Or will the Ultra V8 be reserved for the higher-end Cadillacs only?
From what I've been able to find, it should be pretty awesome & naturally aspirated producing in the 350-400 HP range.
It will not be DOHC like the Northstar but conventional & slightly larger in displacement than the Northstar. This thread is going to get merged...there is a WHOLE rumor thread....search! Minimum 505hp and the potential for 545... CTSV_Rob 09-09-07, 10:30 PM Just curious, what makes it an Ultra engine? They are gonna reserve it for the high end, slower Cadillacs.

http://www.cooleywire.com/jimmyh/pics/gif/bigfinger.gif heavymetals 09-12-07, 11:54 PM I want to see the 2009 V come in at less then $68k.
I have a bet with a friend of mine that it won't be less then $65k Kadonny 09-13-07, 09:55 AM Oh god heavy, no way the 09 V comes in more than 65k. I'll take that bet right now.
GM can't raise the price from low 50' to mid 60's, it just won't happen, the car won't sell. Look for the price to be high 50's. heavymetals 09-13-07, 01:39 PM Well if you think so I am willing to bet a dinner on it.
Reason?
A CTS-V cost just as much as a C5 Z06 in 2005 ($52k).
If they get 550 to 600 hp I figure an upcharge of a minimum of $9k motor wise and another $8-10k in everything else.
I just saw a new CTS with a sticker very close to $49k.
Do the math.
I know it is nothing more then speculation, but I still think the V will be close to if not over $65k. Cadillac Tony 09-13-07, 01:53 PM Well if you think so I am willing to bet a dinner on it.

Alternate line of thinking:
2008 CTS with the 3.6L PFI engine bases out for the same as an 07. Cut & sew interior, turn by turn navigation, larger standard wheel and brakes, nicer key fob, rear air and VASTLY improved quality of materials.
How'd they do that? Well if you think so I am willing to bet a dinner on it.

Yes, It's crazy what V-6 DI CTS are listing for.
Those cars should have 360+HP for their near 50K price.
It's looking like the new V will be $$$ and very limited. Cadillac Tony 09-13-07, 02:19 PM Yes, It's crazy what V-6 DI CTS are listing for.

It's looking like the new V will be $$$ and very limited.
The only way to get a DI CTS anywhere near 50k is with AWD, Performance package, premium luxury w/nav, premuim paint and ultraview.
Take out AWD and premium paint (neither of which will be on the V) and you've already cut $3,900 off the MSRP. A loaded DI without these goes for ~45k. The previous V was about 10k more than a loaded CTS, and this should be no different.
GM will gut our markup to nothing to keep the sticker competitive, mark my words-they've already done it on the 08 CTS. heavymetals 09-13-07, 02:27 PM Gutted the markup?
Cmon.
Don't tell me the dealers aren't going to slap an upcharge on a limited production car in high demand. :thepan:
At least initally. I would like to see them trim about 500 lbs off the car. I know its no SRT, but at 3800 lbs or so, the current V is already a fatass. What is the 09 going to be? Over 4000 lbs someone estimated? Don't tell me the dealers aren't going to slap an upcharge on a limited production car in high demand.
not unless they want to start sending buyers over to Chrysler to look at the $45k SRT8. which is going to be more comparable now that the V is getting an auto (and I would be willing to bet about 75-85% of them will be auto) Cadillac Tony 09-13-07, 02:50 PM Gutted the markup?

At least initally.
Whether or not they slap an addendum sticker on the car, the fact remains that GM has methodically cut our markup between Invoice and MSRP over the last 5 years. I remember having 20% markup to negotiate on, but now we're around 5-8% TOPS on a base car.
I'm sure some dealers will put bump stickers on them (I won't), but that wasn't my point. The discussion is about MSRP, and I'd bet that the markup in the '09 CTS-V will be small in order to keep the sticker price well below the competition. heavymetals 09-13-07, 03:38 PM Your right, we were discussing MSRP.
I still believe that the new CTS-V will be very close to $65k if not $68K.
And it will only be available loaded to the hilt. :bonkers: Then throw the $5,000 back of sticker, $3,000 from your GM card and back in the high $50k range, wait for someone to drive it 2,500 miles, there's another $10,000 or more off the price and PRESTO, I'm in an 09! thebigjimsho 09-13-07, 10:46 PM Then throw the $5,000 back of sticker, $3,000 from your GM card and back in the high $50k range, wait for someone to drive it 2,500 miles, there's another $10,000 or more off the price and PRESTO, I'm in an 09! Then throw the $5,000 back of sticker, $3,000 from your GM card and back in the high $50k range, wait for someone to drive it 2,500 miles, there's another $10,000 or more off the price and PRESTO, I'm in an 09!
I was planning to do that. Wait for a chescrown '09 V. But I can't do that without selling my '04 and lately I've kinda decided I'd rather slowly build my '04 up. Plus my dad's going to get a C6 for a summer car so it'd be fun to go C6 vs '04 V at the track :D We gotta face the reality, our current V isn't going to be worth Jack after the new one comes out. At least the base model '08 doesn't have = or better performance to our old V's, that'd be the kiss 'o death for value.
BMW does that, put up a new car that isn't an M with similar performance to the old M, just CRUSHING the value of the old model. The recovery from BMW ownership is long and hard (read what you want into that, my ass still hurts, I still need to vent).
My current V + 35 large will set me up just fine ;). To bad I'm in Real Estate and the extra $35 Large won't be forthcoming :(

Another reason for me to keep my car. If it's not worth much, no way am I getting rid of it. We gotta face the reality, our current V isn't going to be worth Jack after the new one comes out ...........
I would not worry about that.
09 V's will be very rare, due to their high cost.
Therefore, I see them more as pulling our values back up.
Our V's offer the better performance value and and will be harder to come by, once the big run of early-V lease returns ends.
I think we are doing better on depreciation than 09 V owners will. v84life 09-14-07, 01:25 AM I'm loving the possibilities of how great the new V will be. I'm thinking Z06 sedan. Current Z06 that is. WOW:cloud9: Then I remeber my run in with a M6 a day ago. NO I didn't kill him but fun none the less. What I'm getting at is this current car is killer. Still in love. Longest I've owned a car. So if the bank account isn't ready by 09 then I will happily wait another year in my current V.NO problem:cool2:
PS. Lets see 08cts loaded 49k + 15k in performance upgrades. My vote on price under 65k. Fingers crossed lawfive 09-14-07, 02:15 AM I've got better power in my '05 V now than what they're shooting for in the '09 V. I just wish I had a dependable differential. Cadillac Tony 09-14-07, 09:40 AM At this point, who knows if the '09s will either? :D ylwjacket 09-14-07, 10:06 AM '04's and '05's doing better on depreciation than '09's?
Soon after I bought my '05 V (in summer '04), I saw brand new ones being sold off dealer lots for 5-8k less than I paid. And, used ones, barely a year old with low miles, were selling for something like 30k.
I don't know who has done well on resale with this car. By next summer, I'll have had it for 4 years, and will own it outright. At that time, I view it as a downpayment on the '09, however much that may be. I don't expect it to be much, since '05's sell in the 20's now.
The only people who have done well on resale are people who bought used, at a ridiculous resale value.
On the other hand, I bought it to drive it, not as an investment. So, I drive it alot. Cadillac Tony 09-14-07, 10:22 AM It's entirely possible that if the 2009 gets rave reviews and sells well without discounts or incentives that our resale values could go back up. It's happened before with Z06s, RX-7s and several other performance cars. I suppose the logic goes "People see rave review and can't afford new one, but will pay well for a used one from the previous generation."
Keep in mind that I said "Possible", not "Probable." :) ylwjacket 09-14-07, 10:36 AM that did happen, for a short time, with the M5. While they skipped a model year, waiting for the new one to come out, the resale was strong on used ones in the hiatus year. Once the new one came out, the resale market went back to what it was.
I guess it's better to expect nothing and get something, which is what I am trying to do.
And, I'll be sure to remind my dealer that resale values are trending upwards as he's evaluating my trade on the '09.:alchi: If you want to sell your low mileage V, I am sure now is the time. I considered it briefly, but I love it too much and havent had it that long. thebigjimsho 09-14-07, 03:22 PM We gotta face the reality, our current V isn't going to be worth Jack after the new one comes out. Good thing I like my car. What is all this trading in and getting rid of the old V? I couldn't care less about that. I don't care what it's worth since I'm keeping my '04 forever.
As for new cars crushing the old models' resale, that's short term. Have you priced out a first gen M3 or M5 in good shape? Egads expensive! Same for every model M3 and M5 since then. Sure, as you move from one gen to the next, the resale may go down. But the cars are good enough to always be in demand. Hopefully, Cadillac will have the same results... lawfive 09-14-07, 03:24 PM At this point, who knows if the '09s will either? :D

I vote for over $65k MSRP and there won't be a "base model".
It will be loaded.
Heavy, I know it will be loaded with the standard V stuff, I was just noting "base model" just in case GM throws in an AWD model. The price for an 09 compared to a similarly equipped 07 is what I am referring to. Pop up Nav? Just what I need; an annoying wart on my dash everyday. Not good thinking for something always on...Doesn't anyone think anymore? :thepan:

"I'm not sure about the 'vent' on the side."
It was a very nice 3.6 DI model, dark plum/burgundy in color. They had six 2008 CTS cars on the lot. The plum one was in the showroom right next to a new STS. Her reaction to the STS:

In Indy you can drive the V year round? WoW, I haven't tried the snow tires , but with my gsd3's it is the absolute worst vehicle I have ever driven in my entire life on snow. When I left epp's place in Fort wayne in January they had to push me off the lot and there was about 1" snow and flat. When I got home I couldn't get it up the drive and in the garage for 2 days , So after that it didn't leave the garage unless it was dry out.
By the way where are you at in Indy? mbiker97_old 10-03-07, 08:33 PM By the way what do I do with the old wheels? (won't fit the Durango)
Ummmmm....sell them here? Lots of people are always looking for winter/track wheels. BTW if you want to get rid of them soon I'd be a buyer. :D I use Michelin Aplins on an extra set of wheels that I got fromTire Rack. If you have not ever switched to winter performance tires you can't imagine the difference. I am from Chicago and started using them on BMWs 15 years ago and it makes all the difference in the world. The peformance winter tires give up a little in snow but are pretty good in the dry too. Check out Tire Racks website. I am in Carmel mbiker97_old 10-03-07, 08:58 PM I used to run Nokian WRs on my WRX so I know all about true winters. I'm not sure how much I'll be driving my car this winter though since I may be on the road for work for most of it. I do drive mine for work, all over the state, and never had a problem. No 5sec 0-60s but still fun to drive and I don't have to put it away for 4 months. The car is going to kick !@##$$& ass:thepan: the 6 lug is kind of like a trademark for the V-series; as stupid as it is, they might keep it for that purpose alone. For those of us who are not, why spend several thousand on the current V that could be used as a downpayment if this one will come off the showroom floor with even 525bhp and a full warranty to cover it? Pop up nav - ehhh nice but not a selling item. A head unit that recognizes MP3, has a HD for me to download music into and / or hook my own player into the audio system, bluetooth - selling points over the current model. Possibly larger brakes, 5 lug wheel, a nicer interior - selling points, for me anyway. But in truth the car isn't out yet, so any real details are unknown and only rumor at this point. The car will have to be released so I can see and drive it in person and then see how much they want for it. From that point I'll make the decision to upgrade or consider dropping the money into this model to bring it up to or close to that performance level (my warranty will be done by then anyway). That is if the competition doesn't offer something else worth looking at. StealthV 10-10-07, 10:06 AM Since more power won't be a selling point for me; the '09 has got to do the selling with soul in the interior and exterior.
Having a "pop-tart nav screenTM" is not sexy. Cadillac Tony 10-10-07, 10:08 AM I'll defend the honor of the pop-up Nav: That thing is freaking sweet!
The new dash panel is a LOT lower than our current one when the screen is hidden, and being hidden keeps dust, sneeze splatters, etc, off of the screen. When the screen raises up, it's only about as high as our current HVAC vents, so it's not like it blocks any forward visibility.
Added bonus: The "oooooh, aahhhhh" factor, which is a staple in high end cars. You can't tell me features like the green trace light when you engage cruise control on the speedo of an M6 serves any purpose other than to look cool, just like Carbon fiber interior trim on an RS4 or popup nav in a CTS. It looks cool, stays cleaner and doesn't interfere with visibility.
Winner  Take that! :D StealthV 10-10-07, 10:26 AM Sorry, you'll have to do better to get me off my soapbox. :D
For my daily driving, the nav is always on in both my GM vehicles. On the Denali, the dash is super low compared to even the V so I'm not automatically buying into "it has to be that way."
Driving around every day with a pop-tart nav screenTM is dumb and I'm the one that will decide with my checkbook whether or not it is sweet to me.

Don't think I will be going to BigJim for advice on exterior mod's. I saw the CTS up close and I don't care for the vents in the fender or the chrome strip on the top of the bumper. Don't care much for the back end in general.
Over all I like the Gen I (Is this what we will be calling it?) much better then the Gen II body style.
Now the Interior is nice but I'm with Rick on the Pop Tart Nav screen. Sometimes you need to look at something pratically and ask why would you do something like that. To keep dust off of the screen - I will leave it up the entire time I'm driving anyways and it never seems to get that dirty anyways. With it moving up and down, it would be another reason to bring it into the dealer for service. Coolness and functionality don't outweigh the Dealer factor for me.

Tony, you must have some serious eye candy at the dealer, no? When I bought my V, I wanted to dry hump every girl there...or wet hump...or, you know... The Tony Show 10-10-07, 05:29 PM We're in the largest retirement community in the Country, so if by "Dry-hump" you mean......
Nevermind. CTSV_Rob 10-10-07, 06:18 PM I love the mesh grilles too. I also think the Sport grille is a big step up on the base models...
Agreed. I liked the rear spoiler so much I put it on my V. I hope they do something like that for the 09 V. CTSV_Rob 10-10-07, 06:23 PM We're in the largest retirement community in the Country, so if by "Dry-hump" you mean......

At first I was thinking

Then I thought well, just having fun

like ur dimebag CTSV_Rob 10-11-07, 11:49 AM Smokin' weed and drivin' the V, I thought 1400HP was a bad idea! lawfive 10-11-07, 11:52 AM Since more power won't be a selling point for me; the '09 has got to do the selling with soul in the interior and exterior.
Having a "pop-tart nav screenTM" is not sexy.
Sorry, you'll have to do better to get me off my soapbox.

No posts for months and now this diatribe on a point that's subjective, polarizing, and picayune?
I call bullshit. Urby, somehow Gothicaleigh has taken control of Rick's old account. CTSV_Rob 10-11-07, 12:11 PM Call this a guess but you like the new nav don't you LawFive? lawfive 10-11-07, 12:33 PM Meh. It's a non-issue for me. Kinda like the holes in the side. Smokin' weed and drivin' the V, I thought 1400HP was a bad idea!
better than drinkin and drivin like ur dimebag
Some emergency money or just put a picture of your girlfriend in there and then pop it up when she is in the car. That should get you some points. I wonder if you could make it an electronic picture frame?
Do people still buy dimebags? Some emergency money or just put a picture of your girlfriend in there and then pop it up when she is in the car. That should get you some points. I wonder if you could make it an electronic picture frame?
Do people still buy dimebags?
I am sure sales are at an all time high (no pun intended) those years are far in my past. And the last time I had a picture of my wife in the car was when she was still my girlfriend of only a couple months. Looking at her after work every night is enough for me. CTSV_Rob 10-11-07, 08:10 PM better than drinkin and drivin
Hmmmm. Done both (not in the V!) and I don't think one is any safer then the other.
The weed might explain the steering wheel cover though... :hide: CTSV_Rob 10-11-07, 08:12 PM And the last time I had a picture of my wife in the car was when she was still my girlfriend of only a couple months. Looking at her after work every night is enough for me.
The way I read that was "when the wife IS IN the car have a picture of her pop up but when she is not then the Nav or other goodies".
Brownie points = more mods! The weed might explain the steering wheel cover though... :hide:

Yeah buddy. You have got to expect it. I bought my car with a truck motor in it but you already had a nice steering wheel then put a truck steering wheel cover over it!
Man, you do find some great pic's though. StealthV 10-11-07, 09:43 PM No posts for months and now this diatribe on a point that's subjective, polarizing, and picayune?

It's still a pop tart and no posts for months? What data have you gathered to come to this conclusion?
It's time to make the world a better place to drive and I don't live in a pop tart world. :cowboy: http://www.ciws.net/images/poptartnav.jpg Man, you do find some great pic's though.
not as good as Tony or SD http://www.ciws.net/images/poptartnav.jpg
haha C is driving around with spanktavision on his nav
is that how urby managed to... ya know.... StealthV 10-11-07, 11:14 PM That's not spanktavision, it's a pop-tart nav systemTM with the optional extra tarts package.
Heard the supersize tart package wasn't a big hit in the marketing studies. v84life 10-12-07, 01:34 AM What happened to this thread:confused: lawfive 10-12-07, 01:54 AM Same old thing. What happened to this thread:confused:
