: Brake Heat Mitigation + contest!!

I own a Volvo R series and know that you guys with CTS-V shares the same brakes and pads with the R Brembo. We've found that on a near 4000 pound car, brake heat can be an issue on the track. These Titanium shims seem to help keep fluid temps down and keep dust seals from baking. Also, most opf us run ATE Typ200 fluid.

The guy could just be trying to help us out.
Stoptech also sells Titanium backing plates for the V at the same price.
They are a good thing to have on a car that gets tracked.
Stoptech recommends & sells them for their own Stoptech calipers also.

That is a great deal since so many V owners on this forum actually race their cars on an auto-x track to the point where they have brake fluid boiling issues.

Its definitly a better idea to keep your pads hotter than to let that $3/quart fulid get hot.

Try your land barge on a real race track like Watkins Glen.... we did that with our heavy Volvos and found why you need shims.

The Volvo model involved is called the R-series. It's available in both sedan and wagon. Before you get too down on wagons (I refer to the beer wagon slur), keep in mind that in stock form, my wagon would do 0-60 in 5.7 and with a few simple mods, I got down to 5.4. So it is neither a beer or soccer mom wagon.

So your V with its 5.0 or so, is quicker........ until it rains or snows... the R is AWD

OH JEBUS (http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/27/the-volvette-tt-ls1-powered-740-wagon/) !

This is not the place to be defending a fracking wagon. Try this forum (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/forumdisplay.php?f=101004835)

Jim, I would not consider the "beer wagon" term deragotary.
Hell, if a wagon can perform like a sedan who cares what people call it.
That is the whole point of a wagon, performance of a sedan that nobody would expect or believe or know what to categorize it as.
Wagons (in the US) will always get the "grocery getter " or "beer wagon" association.
Win or Loose, your opponent will certianly play the wagon card against you.
It's just part of wagon ownership.
Don't ask me how I know that.

Got to admit the Beer Wagon pic was funny.

What is the condition of your front calipers?
Did they turn orange?
Did you cook the dust seals?
Are you fender to fender racing?
(saw your website)
Are you using stock GM rotors?
Are you running Brake Cooling Ducts?
Do you have Steel Braided Lines?

They turned orange by themselves
Dust seals crack, does not affect performance
Fender to fender racing
Stock GM Rotors
Cooling ducts through lower fog light 5" hose
Yes braided lines

Volvo bids for gay families
Michael Wilke
Commercial Closet

Gay families, previously hidden away in the suburbs, are now starting to make their way into advertising. Volvo Cars of North America takes its heritage of safety and family appeal a step further by introducing its new SUV with the first national car ad picturing a happy gay couple posed with a child or dog.

Volvo's print campaign for the XC90 includes two ads -- one with two men and a baby, another with a woman embracing her pregnant partner -- each with the headline, "Whether you're starting a family or creating one as you go." Another image shows two men warmly embracing their Yorkie, pictured with the C70 sedan.

The text of each ad reads, "Some families are carefully planned. Others, you just meet along the way. Whoever makes up your family, think about making Volvo a part of it." The ad also says Volvo will donate $500 to the Human Rights Campaign every time a vehicle is purchased or leased.

The print effort targets men and women ages 40-50 and runs from May to August in OUT and The Advocate (tying in to a gay family essay contest on www.advocate.com). It is the second phase of a campaign for the XC90 that began in February -- the first time a new car was introduced in gay media and mainstream media simultaneously.
